LSU's new permanent East opponent: South Carolina?

According to this (most of which we already knew but it's the first I've heard of LSU-USC and A&M-Florida)...
quote:
According to a source at Auburn, there are 10 votes for Missouri to the SEC. More than enough needed for admittance. These same 10 want Missouri to the SEC West division. Presumably this is Missouri's preferance as well. Holdouts are Tennessee and Alabama who want to maintain their permanent cross-division rivalry. Slive wants the vote unanimous. He could ultimately force the issue and possibly get his way, but that is not his style. Its currently a unanimous vote if Missouri is slotted to the SEC East.
It appears Auburn has withdrawn its insistance of moving to the SEC east division. If also appears the teams will maintain one permanent cross division rivalry game.
These stay the same.
No changes to these permanents:
Alabama-Tennessee
Auburn-Georgia
Ole Miss-Vanderbilt
Miss State-Kentucky
These are up for debate if Missouri is slotted to the SEC East:
LSU-Florida
Arkansas-South Carolina
Texas A&M-Missouri
Florida and LSU want new permanents and will get them. Arkansas may want Missouri over South Carolina.
This then becomes a bit contentious as who wants Florida and LSU as permanent cross-division opponents?
Let's assume that Missouri in the SEC East is given Arkansas as their permanent cross-division opponent.
That leaves Florida getting Texas A&M and LSU getting South Carolina. I am not sure that South Carolina may agree to this trade of Arkansas for LSU.
If they do not agree, South Carolina maintains Arkansas, Florida gets Texas A&M and Missouri gets LSU as its permanent cross division opponent.

Everytime Martin speaks the first thing out of his mouth is Florida no longer being permanent opponent - either permanent will be gone altogether or matchups will be changed to accomodate Tenn/Bama. Ark/Mizzou is a natural and that frees up USC. Mizzou does make more sense in the East

I've always been opposed to permanent opponents from the other division. I think everyone should rotate. It's a given that rotating is the fair way to do it.
That said, now that it appears LSU-Florida might be slipping away, I must admit I'm having second thoughts about losing it.

forget this crap
time for the SEC league office to stop bowing down to Alabama and Auburn
get rid of the permanents entirely and freaking DEAL WITH IT

just came from someone random (at least to me) on the mizzou board...but it certainly comes off as someone who has knowledge of what's going on. I don't think anyone could just pull LSU-USC out of thin air...that seems like an odd thing to just make up.

In this scenario, why not bring the yearly UK-LSU game back? Then USC can play MSU (I think).

LSU as a school has been extra fricking cool. Doing what is best for the SEC throughout all of this. So has Arkansas.
Bama is already a pain in the arse

Just wait til you play your first game in Tuscaloosa and Dick Burleson, friend of Bear Bryant and Paul Finebaum, is providing oversight in the official review booth.

I think if those four schools want to keep each other on the permanent rotation, they should be able to...they will have six division games, one permanent game and one rotating game.
All the other 10 teams will have six division games and two rotating games.
Could this work?

don't forget auburn. they have been willing to go to the east if the league asked them to.
frick the alabama tennessee game. it has been a long time since that game actually meant something in the big scheme of things.

This is definitely what should happen IMO....Tell Bama/Aub/Ten/UGA: "Hey, yall are welcome to continue playing each other yearly, but the rest of us are advancing to the 21st century."
That said, I have no idea if the math/scheduling would work on that. I assume it would, but all the numbers and scheduling with all this shuffling really clouds my brain.
I'd also imagine those four would not be happy with the advantage Florida and LSU would gain by abandoning the permanent.

Ironically, that game is soooo important that it managed to get passed up by CBS in favor of LSU facing a 2-loss Auburn team.

I would prefer the option of just letting Bama-UT and Auburn-UGA keep their games on a permanent basis with everyone else rotating. But, if that isn't workable, then I'm fine with A&M taking Florida, but if we're going to take that bullet, then I want LSU on Thanksgiving in return. We didn't come to the SEC to run away from competition, and nothing would make that more clear than taking Florida as our cross-divisional rival.

I would NOT be willing to give up the UF game. Playing better teams makes you better.

Pretty sure the Iron Bowl has gotten passed up by CBS before.
