Would you rather have Jimbo Fisher or Ed Orgeron?

I think he can succeed here. I also think Jimbo can. Less sure about Herman, Petrino, Speck (lol)

Of those mentioned, Jimbo is about as close to a sure thing as you can get in this coaching search. And it's really not close or debatable.

There's a pretty significant overlap. A lot of them are the same people.

I guess I can't really tell how big of an overlap there is overall. I'm sure there are examples of both. Although I did get progressively less emotionally invested with LSU's gameday results as Miles reached his end, I really didn't spend a lot of time arguing that "now was the time to fire him". Not because I didn't care but because it didn't seem useful when he was still the coach - and I felt like he would succeed or fail whether or not people on message boards were happy or unhappy with him personally.

Right or wrong, I feel differently with an interim coach and an active coaching search. I do feel like the administration should seek the best available head coach from anywhere in the country, and not settle for an interim with a questionable record.

I'll be happy with either.

ETA: I'm going to support whoever the coach is because I want Lsu to succeed. You won't here one negative post from me regarding the hire. To me, that is pointless and does nothing but hurt our program.

based on what would you draw the conclusion that LSU would be mediocre for the next decade under coach O?

as Les Miles proved, a monkey could recruit at LSU and win 9 games.

This is what frustrates me. So many of you want a big splash hire so we get good media attention for a few days. The hot name in coaching fails pretty much almost every year.

Point is: Orgeron is not a sure thing. Jimbo is not a sure thing. Herman is not a sure thing. PJ Speck is not a sure thing.

We all want the same thing. We just have different opinions of who can get us there.

The name that isn't hot is the one that already failed. I laughed when Auburn hired Gene Chizik. I'd hate for LSU to turn around and do it. Get someone whose resume is commensurate with the job.
