Why Not Extend the Coaching Search?

So Herman turns LSU down and they panic and hire O? It may end up being the right move but why not wait to see how the bowl season plays out and what NFL coaches/coordinators might want to move to College? The timing to me is the worst part. It shows that LSU only had one plan and when that failed, they looked around the room and someone said, "What about O?" and everyone looked around and someone else said, "Sure, why not, I was hoping to go fishing on Sunday anyway"

What if it emerges over the next several weeks that O can't maintain control of the players? The LF7 deal last week was a huge red flag, IMO. How do you go from a player is not playing to letting him dress right before the game and play. That shows one of two things, either the players have too much influence over the decision making or O decided at the last second that LF7 needed to play to try and save his chances for the job.

Have you been reading the idiots on this board recently? Some think we should've had a coach in place 2 months ago lol. The regular season isn't even over and these dumbasses are crying about the search and freaking out that we haven't hired anyone yet.

Are you kidding? Look I was all in for Herman or Jimbo. You guys really can't see past your perceptions of who the best fits are those two no brainers. But the media backlash from extending the search would be epic. With O being thrown out the whole class dissolves you have to think beyond we didn't get the top guy so let's get the next gamble. O will keep the class he will out recruit anyone else you could get. You just have to understand the power of media and negative press these days. That is what Alleva and the powers that be had to think about. I know it sucks right now but this will be better than a Fedora or Gundy type in the long run. He may not win a NC but he will keep the talent there for the next guy. And who knows keep DA and get a Lane Kiffin at OC you just might be surprised.

But how do you fire Les Miles and hire Ed Ogeron? I get that you might not get Jimbo or Herman, but you don't look at Fedora, Fleck, Gundy or Mcyntire? CEO had no talent at Ole Miss. None! And he got more talent there and improved the program. I hope he makes some great hires. But I'm underwhelmed this morning.
