You can keep pretending that ties aren't counted as half a win and half a loss, if you'd like to keep being wrong.

A win percentage is the percentages of games won. If you want an adjusted win% to better accommodate ties you can always split it in half like that

I dont know if there's a Quidditch Board on here, but that's where you need to be....made up facts and stats to suit your narrative wont cut it. You were caught just admit it.

LSU pre Saban/Miles isn't a historically elite program but now they have the built in advantages + expectations of a top 5 program. LSU's Win% without Les + Saban wouldn't even crack the top 25

Here you are just proving another posters point.

Actually from 1869-2000 LSU ranked 10th all time per the admittedly not perfect, CFB Data Warehouse rankings

LINK LSU was 9th going into the 90's

Maybe there is something about Bayou math that is different

Yes, we know how to calculate win% on the Bayou.

(Wins + (Ties/2))/Games

No longer the case.

It's essentially tied with the state Bama currently (as of 2015) but you're missing the point because LSU doesn't have an Auburn. Or a FSU/Miami. Or Georgia Tech.

Closest comparison to LSU is Ohio State. Except they have a richer pre-21st century than LSU. Programs and their states are extremely similar however.

The official way that the NCAA calculates winning percentage is to count ties as half a win and half a loss.

Eta: you are not doing well in this thread

We were 16th in winning percentage before saban came to LSU. We are currently 13th out of teams that have played at least 500 games.

Let's not let facts get in the way here.

Oh and if you toss the Ivy League schools out it's even higher than that.

That's pretty much how everybody does it. Try it and compare the numbers.

Dude, Alabama's days are numbered.

Wait and see. No team in any sport stays on top forever.
They've had a really good run with help of a really good coach.

The job is better now after Miles than it was after Saban

That's an awfully nit picky way to disagree with the OP.

I wasn't disagreeing with his entire post, just pointing out that something he's mentioning as a selling point isn't really valid any more. It's still really close, but not #1.

(now, LA is a very close second, but they also have only one team in the state. that's the selling point to me)

And it could easily flip back the next year. Point is state of Louisiana has been talent rich for basically forever.

I was just pointing out that LSU's elite status today was built in the past 15 years and one of those guys who was a major contributor just got fired.

And you're wrong. Look at the all time stats. Sorry it doesn't fit your dumb arse argument.

Lsu is top 5 job and most unbiased people believe that

well Pollack, Galloway and Finebaum, all just said on CFB live that it's a top 5 job, and all said it's a better job than USC.

That is debatable but a defensible opinion. The history of success is arguably top ten in history. The income of the program is top 2-3 many years. The conference is very well esteemed. The talent base in state is outstanding (many years ranked #1 per capita with no major in state rival and good footholds recruiting in adjacent Texas).

What is bad about these rankings is how easily influenced by the moment those media can be. USC is one of the most successful (arguably the second most successful in cfb since the 60s) programs in cfb history. They have a top notch name, location, media recognition, etc. The fact that people consider it (or Alabama, or Florida, or Texas, or tOSU, etc) better or worse as the current coach is better or worse just tells you how unconcerned with the fundamentals of the program the prognosticators are as a rule.
