LSU is a better job than both as I pointed out but that is almost exclusively due to the recruiting advantages.

I didn't say that. I said clearly better job. The best jobs are USC, UTa, UF, OSU, and UGA. Those are amazing schools with unlimited resources. After that, there are great schools, but have inherent disadvantages. Saban covers Alabama's location by being an excellent national recruiter, etc.

LSU's Win% without Les + Saban wouldn't even crack the top 25

Alabama without Bear Bryant wouldn't even crack the top 70.

Ya, you had a solid stretch under McClendon but that doesn't put you in the top 5-10 programs all time pre Saban. Auburn had a great stretch under Pat Dye in the 80s and we aren't "elite" in history

Elite programs are top 5 to top 10. Pre Saban, LSU's win% was <.610 which is no where even close to elite. TAMU has a better win% than that at #25

LSU pre Saban/Miles isn't a historically elite program but now they have the built in advantages + expectations of a top 5 program. LSU's Win% without Les + Saban wouldn't even crack the top 25
We were 16th in winning percentage before saban came to LSU. We are currently 13th out of teams that have played at least 500 games.

Really depends on the generation. The people that think this is a second tier job still view Notre Dame as the top destination in football.

LSU is definitely a top 5-7 job.

Here is our all time ranking according to one website before the year 2000(aka before Saban and Miles). They have us ranked 10th all time. Now, if you go strictly win %, as you can see, we would be 13th. So, what I am trying to say, is you are retarded.

I was just pointing out that LSU's elite status today was built in the past 15 years and one of those guys who was a major contributor just got fired.

Hell, you can coach at top 5 program USCw and win 10 games against cupcakes and be loved compared to being fired at LSU

Just saying that youc an find elite pipelines at other destinations too that have less expectations, more program history and a better city (for those who won't love the South East)

've seen plenty of people debate it. OU fans I'm around think it's a step down from OU (wut). Go look at the thread over in the SECr (I know, I know). But still.

I don't associate with idiots, maybe that's why I haven't seen this firsthand.

One other thing to look at that seems to pushed aside is talent already on the team. In most cases like this the cupboard is empty and it is a total rebuilding job (Texas). LSU has a ton of talent already on its roster, and with the right coach has the potential to compete for the NC next year.

I think that depends on the hire. If the new coach, let's just use Chip Kelly for example, runs a different blocking scheme, then it will be a difficult few years.
