After cycling through 2 coaches in 7 years, does Michigan really want another short term solution?
i think they just want the right solution, no matter what it is.

richrod/hoke were obvious hopeful long-term solutions which ended up failing miserably. i think if you're michigan, you want this next hire to be the right guy (rhetorical, i know), no matter if it's a short or long term solution.

they are starving for succcess, they are fiending for it. If i'm them, i want it now.

Hoke built enough of a solid foundation recruiting wise for Les to have immediate success, the guy can put together a good coaching staff. He has the identity UM wants on offense as well.

You're right it is possible to find good coaches without total bodies of work, but they're risky. Can UM afford to frick up another hire? Say what you want about Les, but you know exactly what you're getting with him. No reason at all to think he couldn't come in and put UM right back in contention in that conference.

I agree with all of that. Creating some stability is the most important thing. You let miles average 9 wins with a B1G title and a playoff appearance in 5-7 years and you pick your guy then.

You just can't get caught flatfooted when he retires.

I mean no saw Lloyd retiring

Hey, I've been there before. We talked up Houston Nutt to Nebraska after Solich and Nutt to LSU after Saban

When he passed on the Nebraska job, I'll never forget being home from college for Christmas break and my mom waking up me one morning excitedly saying "Houston stayed!" My reaction was "ahhh frick!" First time I ever said that word in front of her

I think Les would do well at Michigan for 5 years to stabilize them. Him and Bo teaming up again and Michigan could probably win the big10 sometime soon.

Then if LSU makes a decent hire we should be able to shut the LA gate and not let Miles back in. I don't want to see good LA players heading up to michigan but I think a good hire following Les could shut him out of LA.

of all years though this is where I'd be less excited about replacing Les.

I could see the rant begging for us to promote cam or frank. Id be willing for us to throw big money at rich rod or take a shot at schiano

RichRod is the only one of those that would be a good hire.

hence why I'm not big on making a move this year. Also not sure I trust alleva with the decision.

I'm sure we'd give Jimbo a call, but he's not leaving FSU.

Yes....I think so. Him and Cam would be attractive for UM...hell Cam can be coach in waiting. Keep greg mattison who coached in Baltimore with Cam and you got a good top Three. UM would be fine, and Miles would bring publicity to the school and Big Ten.

I would hate to see him leave because I'm not sure who we would bring in...

Your right BilJ. Who do you call this year? Hudspeth? Briles? (Him with Harris at QB and Chief at DC would be scary) jack del rio?

This is dumb as frick. This is why they will keep HOke. No coach wants to go into a situation without knowing who he will be working for/with.
