3-1 in November. Doesn't matter who the loss is to, but fall flat like we have the last few years in November and it will get ugly.

This. O said it in his presser, "We are building a championship program. FAST"

For some fans, maybe.

Not for me. He's gets something of a pass next year, but from '18 on, anything short of excellence isn't good enough.

LSU is too good of a program to "settle."

It's not just wins and losses, it's how we are losing and who are we losing too!!

Anything less than 9-3 is unacceptable, but with 9-3 it would have to be close losses without coaching screw ups. Or key injuries could be an acceptable reason. But progress and growth is key to what we should be looking at!

There will always be a 1 year grace.

After next a 1 year grace to replace Aranda, Etling, Guice, etc...

Then another 1 year grace to replace Kiffin and whoever else.

I'll personally give O some hiccups in '17, because the schedule looks like it'll be rough.

I'm not giving him a pass after that.

Acceptable to whom? Alleva and Alexander? 8-4, 8-4.
This 50+ year season ticket holder? 10-2, 11-1 and a trip to the SECCG with a playoff spot in the offing.

2017 - Schedule too difficult, can't blame Ed.
2018 - Breaking in a new QB, not Ed's fault.
2019 - New defensive coordinator, Ed can't be blamed.
2020 - New offensive coordinator, Ed will get it right.

This will continue until he retires. He'll recruit just well enough so that 6-6 seasons (or worse) will never occur - we'll just be stuck in a seemingly perpetual cycle of 8-4 / 7-5 seasons.

This x1000

The end of LSU as elite right here.

Acceptable will be in the eye of the beholder.

If we use the standard Orgeron argued for at his press conference LSU is going to contend for and win championships. Failure to do that in the next three years will be a failure by his statement.

If we use the standard Les Miles left behind his average performance was between 5-3 and 6-2 in the SEC - and for most of that time the SEC was a lot stronger than it is now. For the season Les won 10 or more games in 7 of his 11 full seasons. So a failure to win at least 10 games in one of his first three years will clearly lag well behind what we should have expected if we just retained Les.

TBH, I don't have a lot of hope that people will be honest about goals or results. We've clearly seen there are no truth tellers in teh media outside of a widely despised GG. Alleva is obviously of the mind that he will follow his perception of general fan interest. Until people stop buying LSU gear, attending games, and giving money he just won't care.

He should start the year with four free wins out of conference. There will only likely be a few teams of note on the in conference schedule: Alabama, Auburn, perhaps Florida, perhaps one of the A&M, Arkansas, or Ole Miss teams.

So we ought to figure there will be four good teams on LSU's 2017 schedule in total. Judging by Orgeron's results at LSU and USC as interim he will lose three of those games and finish 9-3. That is not a good result and Les would have been in hot water, but people will pretend it is pretty good with Orgeron.
