He will be let go.....Harbaugh will take either the NFL job in San Fran or Carolina to be near his brother.....Les will take Meechigan job on Jan 11.

Pelini named LSU head coach Jan 22.

IMO

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. But this scenario is not far fetched at all. Michigan is waiting to fire RR bc they will owe him less money if they wait til after the new year. Everyone seems to think Harbaugh is going to the NFL soon. Miles is rumored to be high up on Michigans wish list. And contrary to many peoples beliefs, Ive heard from more than 1 source inside the athletic dept that Pellini has been contacted and is interested. Not saying it will happen, not saying pellini has been offered anything. just saying it's not a ridiculous thought and that feelers have been put out there already incase Miles does move on

We can move on now.

I agree with a few posts in this thread that basically say this...

After watching the Miami and Florida coaching searches, I'm not looking forward to a coaching search this January.

However, I don't believe for 1 second that Miles was ever offered the Michigan job in 2007, I think LSU panicked and gave Miles a ridiculous contract (before he had even won anything yet). But, I do think that Michigan just might make an offer to Miles this time after Harbaugh turns them down for a pro job.

With the slim pickings for a new head coach out there this year, it would be beyond stupid to hope Miles left for Michigan. LSU would be in a bind.

But you morons keep hoping he makes the jump. It would set the program back another 3 years.

Prominentwon- Stop acting with reason & commonsense- the negatigers will never understand... If Miles left LSU right now, we would be in deep, deep shite- all things considered, I don't know who, if anyone, could come in right now & make an impact, or for that matter, keep the ship running as smoothly as it has been, but the negatigers will dream some nonsense anyway...

Bad time to be looking for a new head coach. We could do worse than Pelini, but at this stage of the game, I'd settle for a new OC and a good recruiting class over the departure of Miles. Hopefully Michigan can't outbid LSU.

Hoke is one of the best options, IMO. I'm sticking to my guns. He's turned both programs he's been at around.

Yeah, Hoke has done a better job of turning these two programs around than Miles did at OSU.

He would be a great hire.

Why is everyone talking about the struggles of UF and Miami...

All Miami did is frickING UPGRADED their head coaching position. They hired Golden before Penn State. This guy will be a success.

And UF hired the next HC at Texas, a coach half this board wanted here a year ago.

The only problem with Hoke is that when Michigan realizes what Miles is without a pipeline of LA talent, Hoke will be the first guy they tap which means he'd on;y be here a year or two.

Patrick Peterson (FL)
Sam Montgomery (SC)
Joe Barksdale (MI)
Spencer Ware (OH)
Russell Shepard (TX)

LSU is a bigger draw for recruits than Miles is.

I have not been the biggest Miles fan. His constant time management gaffes, and mind numbing offensive philosophy have turned my stomach at times. But, to lose him shortly after Jan. 1 would be a big blow to LSU. Chucky ain't coming to LSU - he'll wait till the end of the NFL season and get an NFL job. Del Rio may have rescued his career in Jacksonville this season. Pellini is a hot head and he and Lombardi will not co-exist.
The players appear to genuinely love playing for Miles. If he stays, and gets rid of Crowton, next season could be special. If he leaves, all cards are off the table.

Schefter has repeatedly said Michigan will be going after Harbaugh (in fact he previously said he thinks that's where he's going). Peter King said on Tuesday night that Harbaugh is top of the Niners list of coaches, so it looks like a straight fight between the two.

ETA: King is usually quite accurate on the Niners. Schefter is frequently wrong...

Tom Dienhart on Rivals thinks Rich Rod is out and that the hot Maryland rumor is Rich Rod to College Park.

Just remember, the President of Michigan is the former CEO of Domino's and he and Les were either teammates or affiliated in some way in the past. He wants a Meechegan Man. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm sure this is totally Germans, but word on the street a few years ago was that the Lloyd Carr/Old Bo/Meechigan Man faction doesn't like Les because Les had relations with Gary Moeller's wife back in the day.
