That's bowl eligible for the second year in a row. What's your point?

My point is that South Alabama is not about to shut down a program that they started in 2009.

What does a concrete salesman know about running an educational system?

This is going to ruin all athletics at that school since the conference is kicking them to the curb.

he knows that if revenue is consistently less than expenses, there are problems ... not defending the decision or pb jr, but there are too many programs losing money in D I football ...

and legion field is absolutely a horrid place to host football games ...

Meh! I agree that way too many states have way too many team in FBS. I mean let's be honest. ULL, ULM, and LaTech don't belong in FBS. They would be better off competing against Nichols, Southeastern, and Northwestern Louisiana.

I would love for Auburn's new DC, Muschamp, to offer Bill Clark a position coach job.

He wouldn't take it.

You honestly believe he would turn down a SEC on the field coaching job? Can't be that dumb.

I don't think he'd take anything less than a DC job. He hasn't been anything but a HC or DC since 1991. He would take a HC job at a program similar to a UAB before he took a position coach job at AU.

And Paul Bryant, Jr. runs the BOT from everything I've heard from friends in Alabama. He was the main reason UAB could never get a named HC, he kept a tight grip on the purse strings; again, from same friends.

And he's a rogue...most of Bama's BOT's have no issues with UABs football program, PBJr has crippled it at the knees running coach after coach off, not approving any sort of upgrades to facilities

This is a sad sad day

Of course he would. Those jobs are behind every FBS job, and many FCS jobs. He can get a better job than SEC position coach.

Really. It just makes Alabama look very vindictive and petty.

Some legislators are already gearing up legislation to modify the BoT to be more inclusive for UAH and UAB/
Legislation to restructure BoT

Also alumni have offered to give more money if they get a guarantee the program will be kept and they extend Clark's contract.

Alumin pledge to raise millions

This is dirty politics. Bear Jr doesn't want UAB football so he's jamming it through, knowing that he hits forced retirement from the BOT within months. No public discussion; no conferring with the city.
Dirty, dirty

Not surprised. The sleaziest people in the world (Bama, Bama fans, and a Bryant) has control of it. They care more about possibly losing a recruit every 5 years than the hundreds of lives they mess up.

Good Lord you people are stupid

This is UAB's decision. There's very little support for the program.

As in the UA Board of Trustees yes.

30,000 people for the Marshall game, they're far from being the worst supported school in D1 football, hell even their conference.

UAB was pushing for a stadium. You don't go from that to wanting to shutdown your program. This was a UA decision. If UAB had any say they were forced to decide what the UA bot wanted them to. Like "We're not ever letting you have a stadium or giving you a dime for any sport."

Bama has been against every program in the state for awhile. It's why they won't even schedule the smaller schools in football instead of the Western Carolinas of the world. UAB is just the only one they have any control over.

This is sad nonetheless. If every college football program depended on making money, how many would there be. Also no tennis, golf, track, etc. How many women sports. Might as well make them all minor leagues and let the pros fund them.
