Comparing any program to ND is farcical. They are and will always be the spotlight program. ND is the benchmark, whether or not the public agrees.

I don't know - Saban has a massive ego, as most college coaches do. I think he has aspirations to become the next Bear Bryant at bammer - win National Championships, then retire a legend. He has a better chance to gain legend status at bammer than at ND. Besides, those rednecks would mortgage their homes to raise enough money keep him. But I do not think he is after money any more - he is after immortality!

CNS is a hired gun, period.
He gets the job done then goes to the next town/college and does the same.
He will leave, just give us 2 more years and I will be happy.

True. Good thing we never have to worry about this with Miles

If I'm ND, I go after whoever loses the SECCG on Saturday.

LSU was a fricking joke when saban got here and had been for most of the prior 15 years; saban had just rattled off 10 wins at Mich St.

Nick won 9 games in his last year at Michigan State. Bobby Williams won the 10th game in the bowl game beating Florida on a last-second field goal.

Anyways I can see Nick leaving for ND. Sure Alabama can match ND up to a point. But, I don't see Nick getting paid 7-10 million a year at Alabama when Alabama is still in many ways a poorer Southern state and there a lot of Auburn fans who are voters in Alabama and they would raise hell. As a state insitution Nick would face much greater scrutiny and I actually think at state institutions across the country you'd see increased scepticism and many people would see 7-10 million at Alabama as too much now.

Plus, at MSU and LSU Nick had a pattern of always asking for more and when he was told no he would interpret it as a slight against him a sign that he wasn't appreciated. Plus talk to office people at MSU and LSU and no one was really sad to see Nick go. Maybe he's changed, but no one really loved him in the football and athletic offices and he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Now in regards to Tuscaloose, I can see his wife hating the fishbowl. South Bend is an easy trip to Chicago and to Lake Michigan where they had a cabin on Lake Michigan when he was at MSU. Mrs. Saban likes living in the Midwest and everyone said she actually loved Baton Rouge and we found out that wasn't true. She can easily escape to Michigan Ave and not be bothered or noticed. No one on the Mag Mile or the Gold Coast of Chicago gives a shite about the wife of the coach at ND or up in Traverse City Michigan along the Lake Michigan shore.

Plus Nick wants to be the best and ND can make him the best. Nick at ND is absolutely scary.

saban likes to build/rebuild college football programs not maintain success. he loves going into an apathetic situation and changing the culture to a winning culture. this has been what has driven him for the last decade plus and i don't buy that all of a sudden he wants to settle down, stay in one place and maintain a consistent level of success for 20 years.

You nailed it.

Didn't he take a paycut to come to Alabama

No, he quit to avoid being fired. Whatever Bama paid him for 2008 was more than $0, which is what Miami would have paid him.
