I know that is a joke and it is funny.

As far as legitimacy, hell is going to freeze over prior to LSU firing a HC mid-season and hire a coach that was fired that same mid-season. That is never going to happen, but it is a good chuckle!!

Might be a dumb question but what makes this guy credible?

How trashy would it be for Texas to have already made this happen while Charlie is still coaching

That's the whole point with the "all but official" disclaimer. It's not, they wouldn't and Herman would sign or likely agree to anything at this point anyway.

Maybe he can bring some of his players from Houston who can actually tackle and cover a receiver.

Remind me of when ESPN reported that Saban had accepted the Texas job?

I think he strongly entertained it, but ultimately decided against it b/c why? Nothing to be gained and his entire family (kids, mom, grand) were set up in Bham.

Yeah. You have. I hope it does come out so you'll see the truth instead of continuing to project what you think happened.

Never said ESPN said it, just saying it was a similar situation where the school believed it secured a coach.

Oh I know what happened, I personally know one a members of the staff and they were informed that Saban accepted the job.

Skip Bertman recently came out with all the details about this. It was not happening, but Les met with them a lot.

Michigan offered and he said no.

Skip was talking about 2011. This thread is talking about December 2007.

The Bama staff? They were told no such thing. Maybe someone at Texas was given reason to believe that but I know two people that were on the Bama staff at that time (one is still there) and they've said they thought it was close, but no.

My source told LSU admin sent a note to Tom Herman to gauge his interest.

It wouldn't be the first time.

Despite what bertman said, miles was not offered in 2011 imo.

lsu777 shows what a dumbass you are from your opinion. One of the players "Bertman" who was directly involved in the scenario states in an interview "for public consumption" that Miles turned down an offer to become Michigan's HC and he knows this for a fact. And you think he is a liar!!! That is exactly what you are saying if you say you don't believe Bertman, you are saying he is a liar. One thing Bertman has never been accused of at LSU is being a liar.

You need to put brain in gear before mouth in gear when you post.

This was done until it got leaked (by an OSU alum, no less). LSU fans may not believe it, but what is more likely:
1) ESPN allowed their lead college football guy to go on air with a story he didn't have sourced (multiple times and by great sources), or
2) Les was going to Michigan and changed his mind when it got leaked early?

Occam's Razor.

Complete and utter bullshite. Not that I care anyway.

You do not accept a HC position, then go back on it because you have been outed the morning of a bowl game. Ridiculous.

Also isn't this the same numb nut that said Strong was a top candidate on LSU's list? This one smells bad, kind of like "well he is either going to LSU or UT next year so I am going to take a stab at it I have a 50/50 shot so why not because know one will remember when I said that "the Eagles were NOT going to trade Sam Bradford this year"

One thing I can promise you without making one phone call, Strong ain't high on LSU's coaching search list. Can you even imagine Alleva going in front of the LSU brass and saying "Hey we just fired a HC mid-season that was defensive minded - meaning he relied on his defense to win all games, to hire a HC that was fired in the same season - probably mid-season - who is a defensive minded coach that has no defense. Yeah that will float worse than a lead balloon.

Allbright is a buffoon who doesn't know shite, everything he says is just a 50/50 guess.

I bet Les would have taken the Michigan job if WVU had beaten Pitt that night. He wouldn't have been preparing LSU for a national title game.
