It's called closing the deal, something LSU was incapable of doing last year.

Reminds me of Saban before the bowl game at LSU honestly. You knew and the team knew he didnt give a frick about the Iowa bowlgame.

That was after the season and before a shitty bowl match up. This is while Herman had an undefeated team with a weak schedule to get to the playoffs. Huge difference. Like I said, that shows some weak mental make up.

herman had some nice quotes today at his pc

quote:

Joseph Duarte ?@Joseph_Duarte 5h5 hours ago Tom Herman: ‘We are everybody’s Oklahoma and Florida State. Well, we were. I’m not sure if we are anymore.'

Joseph Duarte ?@Joseph_Duarte 5h5 hours ago Tom Herman mentions all three road losses (UConn, Navy and SMU) have resulted in fans storming field

you must not know much about sources and ESPN. Or sources for any media outlet.

You're a smart guy and a good poster. I enjoy our interactions. Seriously - do you believe they would send the face of college football on their network out there to make that type of report in that type of circumstance and set him (and them) up for embarrassment if they didn't believe it to be true? I'm not flaming, I'm simply saying he had a change of heart. At the time of the report, what Herbie said was accurate.

This was done until it got leaked (by an OSU alum, no less). LSU fans may not believe it, but what is more likely:
1) ESPN allowed their lead college football guy to go on air with a story he didn't have sourced (multiple times and by great sources), or
2) Les was going to Michigan and changed his mind when it got leaked early?

Same with Saban to Texas but Bama fans refuse to believe it.

I've said it before the truth will come out after he retires.

Don't act like F King didn't have paperwork drawn up for Jimbo. All schools do it.

Remind me of when ESPN reported that Saban had accepted the Texas job?

I think he strongly entertained it, but ultimately decided against it b/c why? Nothing to be gained and his entire family (kids, mom, grand) were set up in Bham.

Yeah. You have. I hope it does come out so you'll see the truth instead of continuing to project what you think happened.

Your link is from 2011. The Herbstreit debacle happened before the BCS NC game in January of 2008

actually its pretty well documented in 2007 herbie was part of a hoax. read up on it.

also pretty well known in 2007 miles was offered the job by dave brandon, but nothing was finalized. Brandon went sailing and wouldn't answer the phone and LSU forced miles to sign the extension and give the press conference or not coach the SECCG.

Brandon didn't want miles, it was all about pleasing some of the donors. Him and the president never wanted miles and were not going to let it happen in 2011 either. Despite what bertman said, miles was not offered in 2011 imo.

Skip Bertman recently came out with all the details about this. It was not happening, but Les met with them a lot.

Michigan offered and he said no.

How trashy would it be for Texas to have already made this happen while Charlie is still coaching? I mean, what coach would want to work for a school that runs it's program like this? Money talks i guess, but having every money guy from that alum base crawling up your arse on a daily basis would be awful. If Texas got rid of the douchey/entitled aura that surrounds the program, it would be the best looking landing spot in all of college football.

Reasonable observation. But, coaches understand how the game is played. All of them - Strong, Herman, Fisher, Saban, etc. - understand that ADs do their due diligence an make arrangements with the next guy before they fire this guy.

Just as Strong knows that Texas is already looking for a new coach "just in case" Strong's agent is already exploring options for him to find a "soft landing spot."

Just the seemingly seedy way the coaching carousel works.
