If miles was fired at the end of the season or if coach O was available on the open market - would you still be excited if Alleva announced him as the head coach just coz he's "like us"? Hell no.

You are letting the heightened emotions of an interim situation get to you. Yes Coach O's done a great job but any time a coach is fired mid season the players get an extra boost of motivation bc they want to prove 1. That it wasnt because of them and 2. They play harder for the interim guy bc its a new day and a new message.

My point is.....if miles was fired at a point in time where O didnt have the opportunity to be inferim - there's no way he'd even be in the top 5 of candidates we would consider. Love the man tho.....hope he stays on as dline coach and recruiting coordinator.

What a stupid hypothetical. Of course he wouldn't have the support the has now. We got to see his version of the program. That's where the support is coming from.

Exactly.

He has proven he will take action and is an enthusiastic coach that can recruit.

Would you have hired Saban if he had never been a coach? See how pointless these questions are?

Would anyone have the Florida loss to blame on him?

The problem with that is it really isn't his version of the program. It's someone else's staff and players. The biggest issues (among many) of O's time at Ole Miss was how poorly constructed his teams were from a development and recruiting standpoint. Yes he recruited well but it was very unbalanced, some positions were almost completely ignored and there was little to no consideration taken in terms of how player A and player B's skill sets did or did not compliment each other.

This is why keeping O is such a bad idea.

Maybe not THEN,
but now that I have seen the results and interactions YES.

and all the crap about Herman during the game ...
If it were not for low class Alleva would not have any at all.

O is a better version of Miles. LSU would win a lot of games and be very exciting to watch most of the time (like mad hatter Miles), but we'll drop some like the UF game so to like of focus and emphasis on emotion. I could even see him winning a title under to old BCS system where luck good get you in the game, but no way in hell he gets through the CFP. The CFP is why Herman is likely the best option.

David Cutclilffe, Houston Nutt, and Hugh Freeze have all had successful seasons at Ole Miss sandwiched around the all-time worst head coaching tenure at Ole Miss that Orgeron had.

Why wouldn't you care about the one time he had full reign over a program?

There's a lot more that goes into being a full time HC than an interim one...

What stupid thing to ask. Like would you still be a dumbass even if you just didn't ask that question?

Exactly the same situation with Miles last year. The O fans are clueless.

There is nothing you can say that can convince these coonasses to not hire one of their own.

Stupid thread. It's like asking a company: hey would you hire this candidate without interviewing him and solely based on his work record from 10 years ago? Of course nobody would do that.

The fact is Coach O has shown us that he has improved as a HC material dramatically from his days at Ole Miss. Has he all of sudden improved enough to become the No.1 choice of LSU's HC? Probably not. But you know a lot of tier-2 programs will be vey interested to lure him away for HC job because of what he did during this "interview".
