The average salary of college head coaches is $1.5 million, so we are clearly going to hire one of the 120ish other head coaches in college football.
The average salary of an American automobile manufaturing company financial officer is $1.5 million dollars, so we are clearly going to hire one of those guys as our next DC.
The average salary of Hollywood B-List actors is $1.5 million so we are clearly hiring Owen Wilson as our next DC
The point went over your head. The salary between the NFL and College level will be very competitive.
You are being a very big a-hole this morning. And if you haven't noticed, this website has more than just LSU fans. It has boards for all kinds of other stuff. There is even an SEC board along with team specific boards. Best forum for a college team I have run across.
Shove it.

Official visits by many recruits are on the 23rd. You would want the guy in place by then. Assume the 18th is probably the latest they will want to push it.

I'm thinking it'll be more likely the 17th
or the 19th, 50/50 chance

There's no accountability in the news media anymore.
It's all about who can break the story the fastest, no matter the truthfulness of it or not.
correct, and a lot of this has to do with social media...with printed paper, you tend to get way more legit info because it isn't rushed and it's not written on impulse. plus, for the writer, they are a lot more conservative when writing something in the paper as opposed to a tweet, etc.
also, when it was the newspaper...everyone was getting it. they weren't fishing for hits because the paper shows up no matter what

The hire is going to come once all details are hammered out which comes after an agreement in principle which comes after Les figures out what the frick he's gonna do

Did I miss anything or anyone?
Damn, this is depressing.

What a typical rantard post. Provides absolutely no tangible evidence to back up his claim of timeline for hire....

In my opinion, we have NO credible insiders/sports media.. that goes for the Saints too. They're all masters at throwing shite and hoping it sticks.
It has been that way for a VERY long time. Buddy D was the closest thing that I can remember to a major local sports personality who would tell the truth. Jim Henderson in New Orleans did so as well with his commentaries for WWL. But, other than that, we end up with a lot of sycophants who don't really investigate what is happening and develop sources.
Louisiana is very provincial and there is a "if you're not for us you're against us" mentality. GG has tried to be critical, but he is a moron, so it is rejected. And, it isn't all about being critical. It is about being able to tell the truth while also gaining trust with those on the inside, which is hard to do.
The political corruption in Louisiana extends to the media which is reflected in sports media as well. The expectation is that one pumps sunshine or they lose access. When one actually is critical, then their sources cut them off. So, the sports media is disciplined here. This is not a region of the country that is used to having a relationship with the media that is trustworthy while also beind adverserial at times.

It seems to me the only thing all of this non-news is saying is that our athletic dept. is very tight-lipped - leak proof.
That's a good thing.
I can't believe all you idiots out there want this information leaked thereby compromising the hire/negotiations - all because you just wanna know for the sake of knowing.
Personally, I am very impressed with the lack of information being leaked by LSU, and find it refreshingly professional.
So everyone just un-bunch your panties, or hell, just take your fricking panties off, grab a beer, and sit back and wait patiently for the outcome. I remember when Chief was hired, I was shocked at how well LSU handled that hire. I have confidence that they will handle this one equally well.
Remember this: neither LSU nor the media owe it to our impatient fans to leak information about a multi-million dollar negotiation.

I don't want things leaked either. So, I agree with all that you have said.
I was simply commenting on the long-term situation in Louisiana sports coverage where we seem to have a lack of insiders from those in the Media.
But, yes, I have no desire to see leaks all over the place.
