Anyone heard anything relevant to the search? Seems it's been pretty close to the vest, but is there any chance Bobby April is signed and retained at the position? It would be an obviously good fit if April isn't looking to the NFL again.

No one will be hired until after signing day. They want Austin out on the trail. He's key to signing phillips.

I really didn't figure a hire was coming before NSD. Just kinda hoping that there's a real shot at April. Proven record, hometown guy, League experience, etc. Home run IMO.

I agree that April would be a great hire. Just IMO though, sounds like he might be more interested in retirement/part-time consulting work. So I'm not getting my hopes up for that specific hire, but I think we get a good one.

We are down two recruiting spots. One for the special teams position and the other I think Thomas is recruiting for Pete Jenkins. So is Coach O using the vacant spot so that he can be on the recruit more? I'm guessing that that is what is happening.

Kind of figured they would wait till signing day.
After that, what about giving Ensminger a shot there and picking up a top recruiter from somewhere to do tight ends or some other position if Ensminger wants to do both?

Austin Thomas is recruiting for Jenkins. Dennis Johnson the former GA is recruiting for Peveto. No spots are open.

Can say with 100% certainty (heard it straight from his mouth), Bobby April is happy in retirement and would prefer to consult, similar to Pete Jenkins prior to the Les Miles firing, rather than the grind of coaching. He will more than likely be a part of the football staff, but not a full-fledged coach.

Bobby April was on wwl 105.3 today and emphasize again that he is not interested in being a full time coach any more, but enjoys being a consultant, so look for Coach to hire a special team coach after signing day
