Early reports were that it was:
1.) Jimbo
2.) Herman

With Herman's continued success against stiff competition, and Jimbo's struggles, has Herman firmly punched his spot atop our Coaching Search list?

I would hope the people making these decisions are not as reactionary as fans

I hope Jimbo's struggles are because of his mind being in Baton Rouge.

Jimbo got lucky in the championship game with Auburn. He's a highly overrated coach

If you can hire a coach with Jimbo's resume, then you pull the trigger. No question.

His struggles at FSU this year might actually help LSU convince him to make the move.

Lucky, huh? I wonder how well Jimbo would do vs regular SEC opponents?

2016 W 45–34 vs Ole Miss
2015 W 27–2 vs Florida
2014 W 24–19 vs Florida
2013 W 37–7 vs Florida
2013 W 34–31 vs Auburn

I agree...to an extent...what is it going to cost us? Is Jimbo really a "throw the bank at him" hire?

He makes $5 million now. And is under contract until 2022.

quote:

If Fisher were to pursue another job, he has a $5 million buyout before Dec. 31, 2016, a $3 million buyout on that date in 2018, and only a $1 million buyout the day after on Jan. 1, 2019.

My guess is with FSU's swoon this season, Jimbo may not be a "throw the bank at him" hire anymore. Definitely was last year though.

ETA: If we can't get Herman, I'd still want LSU to go after him.

I would hope the people making these decisions are already in negotiations with their top choice.

God I hope so.

Jimbo's issue this year is his DC Charles Kelly, who's been under fire all season. As has been stated, FSU does not pay top assistant money. Kelly makes 70% of what Aranda does at LSU.

His offense, with a Freshman QB, looks like a typical Jimbo offense. With a top DC, Jimbo is a top 5 HC nationally.

The dolts that clamor over recent FSU losses are childlike reactionaries. CFB is no different than other businesses, you hire the resume.

As a side note, I truly enjoy the Jimbo concerned posts that try to mitigate his success by removing elements of his resume. Such as, "take away Winston and blah blah such and such." That's akin to line-item removing success from anyone's achievements and is a ridiculous contention.

You forgot:
2012 L 37-26 vs Florida

You also forgot:
EVERYBODY beat Florida in 2013
EVERYBODY OF NOTE beat Florida in 2014
Florida's starting QB was suspended in 2015
FSU plays a soft schedule every year outside of 2 or 3 games
FSU REGULARLY struggles against inferior teams

Really not a great resume IMO.

The people who want Jimbo so badly now are probably the same ones that wanted him run out of town when he was OC. Don't think anyone in BR liked the guy at that time.

Jimbo had a really special athlete at QB who won him a NC. Similar to AU and Cam.

Personally I think LSU can do better.

Jimbo also won a NC at LSU with a dentist at QB.

Name some better candidates.

I have Herman #1, Jimbo #2

With that being said, for everyone saying we deserve better than Jimbo, WTF are y'all smoking? He's won a NC and made the playoffs the next year. His problems aren't his offense or his QB development. You pair him with the defense we already have and you have a top 5 team. We would be lucky to have Fisher if Herman turns us down.

Sounds like LSU fans and miles his entire tenure here.

I think you'd get similar results with Jimbo, maybe one great season and a bunch of 9 and 10 win seasons. Which is considered mediocre at LSU. He has bama talent yet loses to wake forrest, NC state, Louisville, UNC, GA tech, UVA, Houston. None of those teams bring in the talent FSU does on a regular basis.

Amen, hiring Jimbo is a lateral move for LSU. I'd be totally pissed if we hired that loser. If we wanted to underperform and get lucky and have a killer season every ten years we could've just kept Miles.

This year Jimbo has been exposed for the Malzahn he is.

Jimbo is a better coach than Miles.
