Agree with Slackhouse. Where does the god like status of Brick come from? What has he done to earn it? Have an underachieving line that struggled to generate a pass rush even with 7-8 current or future NFL guys on the line? Live off pulling Sam Montgomery as a recruiter and finishing 2nd for a ton of high profile DL guys so he's a great recruiter? You want to know how good a recruiter he is? He had a hand in raising one of Tony Browns parents but still couldn't help convince them to let Tony go to LSU. He did help get Bealoved though so I guess there is that.

Ed O is a better hire all around and its not really that close. And this from a guy that likes Brick.

do chief and o really have beef? i thought trooper was the only coach he wasn't fond of.

i know brick is highly thought of in the pros and i like the full body of work here but our d-line was subpar almost all year up until the bowl game.

My question is how is coach O such a good recruiter? Honestly, what's likeable about him? How does he relate to players? I'm not bashing him. Would love him to be at LSU and him going to Bama would suck bad, but I'm just curious what separates him from others?

He's a "rah-rah" guy. Players coach. Heavy testosterone guy who hypes kids up to feel good about themselves. They want to play hard for the guy who makes them feel like they're incredibly talented.

I think he's an odd dude, but all that aside, you can't really argue with his results.

I think it's the way he shows up drunk to in-home visits. I remember Marlon Brown's grandmother loving that.

Best Case Scenario would be to let Orgeron coach DL, move Haley TO LB's, (Where he coached and played in college) and then Chavis could handle the Mass Confusion that is the LSU Defensive Secodary.

So now y'all want to fire Raymond?

Got to love this fan base. They think money grows on trees.

hey, i never said that. Just said that some LSU fans need to step back and think about Brick. He's been our coach for 5 seasons and our DL has been really good just one year (2011). I don't know if Orgeron is any better. But, I won't go as far to say that we'd terribly miss Brick either.

Raymond's guys played well down the stretch, I'm much better with him going forward than I once was.

i'm extremely interested to see how the freshman from this year develop for next year. We didn't see much improvement from the freshman that played in 2012. That experience didn't translate into better play for them in 2013.

If Robinson, Jefferson and White have mediocre years in 2014 after having decent freshman campaigns, I'll be very disappointed and have little faith in Raymond. The Jalen's just didn't make a big jump like most people thought they might for their 2nd year.

Yeah, the talent level in the secondary is back to what LSU fans come to expect.

Cooper's lazy recruiting hurt us back there.

Georgia signee Marlon Brown had 'disagreement' with Vols' Orgeron

A day after telling a radio station that University of Tennessee recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron botched his recruitment, Harding Academy receiver and Georgia signee Marlon Brown said he had a “disagreement” with Orgeron — and dropped it at that.

“Me and him had a disagreement on a subject. That was it,” said Brown, a 6-5, 205-pound Parade All-American who signed Wednesday with Georgia over Tennessee, Ole Miss and Ohio State.

Moments after his signing, Brown told KQPN-AM 730 that “Coach O came at me the wrong way. He had said a couple things to me and my family, and it wasn’t happening.”

Brown went on to say in the interview that his grandmother, who was heavily involved in his recruitment, “was definitely turned off by it.”

Orgeron, in Memphis on Thursday night for a celebration of the UT recruiting class, said of Brown, “We like him. We respect him. We wish him the best.”

UT head coach Lane Kiffin, also attending the Big Orange Caravan event at the Memphis Hilton, supported Orgeron and noted two signees the Vols wouldn’t have secured without him.

“I’m not one bit worried with what’s going on with Ed and how he’s recruiting,” Kiffin said.

While Brown wouldn’t go into specifics Thursday about the disagreement with Orgeron, he did dispel one message board rumor that suggested Orgeron had perhaps used inappropriate language around Brown and his family while recruiting him.

“Nah. No cuss words or nothing,” Brown said. “A simple disagreement. That was it.”

Even so, Harding Academy athletic director Kevin Starks, Brown’s basketball coach, said Brown struggled with his decision.

“I think Tennessee was in the running, serious running,” Starks said. “Not because it was his hometown state. It’s just the weekend we went, it was great, the visit we had, and they did have a chance.

“But the bottom line is Marlon didn’t go to Tennessee because there was a disagreement, and that’s what happened. That wasn’t a lie.

“That wasn’t him trying to talk bad about their program or about their recruitment. That’s just what happened.”

Are guys kidding me? Did you just magically forget how much our defensive line improved once they get rid of the other waste of space coach? Did you forget how DOMINANT they were in 2011? I love TD...the only place that remembers the worst moments for a player and never the best.

How many defensive lineman have went to the NFL under him? How many defections has he had to deal with? Okay then. Haley is a good coach. If you don't think so you're blind as hell. This is really the only year that has been mediocre under him. That's largely because he lost 3 very talent underclassmen to the NFL. You could maybe say 2010 was decent but that was the year Sam went out with an ACL tear and it was the first year for PT for guys like Mingo. LSU's line was actually really good up until Sam got hurt.

I'm willing to bet Freak/Ego just didn't develop because they were never that great. Probably more on the player than coach because Haley has already shown he could take raw guys and turn them into studs(Brockers/Mingo).
