LSU is a top program. But my questioning is still there. It's a lateral move at best.

FSU to LSU is not a lateral move at best.

Fair enough. But this seems like an emotional decision rather than a business one. Of course you could be correct, I just don't understand from the business side.
Would money be considered a business reason?

The ACC seems more competitive here of late

The SEC is not what it use to be at the moment.. no in terms of complete teams.

The ACC most of the season had two top 5 teams not named FSU..how is it any easier.. especially with the playoffs..

Why not knock off Alabama in the regular season any ways? Plus you can afford a loss, and sometimes even two in the SEC.. but not the ACC.

Money and recruiting is a wash. FSU will match whatever LSU offers.

Chance to compete with the best in the business (besides dabo).

This is true, but this is not a correct business decision. It is emotional.

Better facilities.

This is true although I think FS is upgrading.

Has significant connection to the program

Emotional

, In the long run Jimbo will out last him. By that point he'll have his system up and running and will have a chance to be dominant.

I agree with this although that is a pretty weak reason.

And Jimbo has history at LSU, good history with close close contacts. A majority of the fan base think highly of him. He has his critics, but in terms of the power brokers, he has solid alliances. And fwiw, he wants a shot at the SEC. coaches love challenges.

That's the bottom line. And that encompasses job security.

I agree with everything you are saying. I know he is an LSU man, loves the school and the school loves him. I just don't know those are reasons to leave a pretty great situation.

Do you think FSU will pay 7 million with incentives to reach 7.5 million? Many FSU fans have said no and a lot would not want them to. He'd be paid as much as Saban. I mean, they very well could. But if they won't, that seems like a good reason.

I can tell you that Sexton will not let any of us get out cheap. You guys should know that. And now it appears Texas might be in the mix. FSU better be ready to pay up and pay up big.

All those reasons. I don't how much of personal is going into this decision. My gut tells me some of it is.

Jesus Christ.

In no world would Saban leave LSU for Alabama.

The Urban story is a better example although none of us really know what happened.

Yea and Dabo would go to Alabama in a second. It won't matter what he's done at Clemson or how much they'd pay him. Not that Bama would hire him, just an example.

Right now nobody knows how emotion or personal life is playing into this.

FSU doesn't pay their assistant coaches as much as LSU does. I believe LSU had the highest paid assistant coaches in college under Les Miles. Jimbo lost his D coordinator after they won the NC due to FSU not paying him enough. At LSU, Jimbo wouldn't have to worry about not getting or keeping the assistants he wants due to money. Also, Jimbo will get paid.

Florida is a great state for recruiting, but there is no in-state competition in Louisiana at LSU and Louisiana has the most players per capita in the NFL. That's a big selling point for anyone that there is no in-state competition for recruiting. It was for Saban when he took the LSU job.

LSU gets a ton of donations to its athletic department and is in better shape than FSU when it comes to facilities and money needed to do things to keep up in that area.

Also, there is the prestige of coaching in the SEC and the challenge of winning in what is perceived to be the best conference. Also, coaching in Tiger Stadium is a nice perk and coaches all seem to love it when they get a job here.

I can't tell if you are being serious right now. Saban would not have left LSU for Alabama.

I believe Miles was out of here for Michigan in 2007, but the media leak fricked up the deal. And that was a during a NC run.

But I still think this will be tough for LSU to pull off. This is not something that happens a lot.

"something else" was an NFL job which is completely and 100% different than what we are talking about.

Jimbo may come to LSU, but I don't see any real reason to at this point. This smells like Sexton being Sexton.
