I guess it boils down to is a one word question. Why?

Florida State is a prominent program that can financially match anything LSU offers. You may disagree with this, but it's true.

Recruiting is strong at both programs.

His path to ACC and national championships is SIGNIFICANTLY easier at Florida State. All things equal, who would CHOOSE to go head to head with the GOAT coach every year knowing that just that single loss would keep his seat warm.

Other than the rhetoric of "Jimbo is an LSU man", what are the logical reasons for him going to LSU?

He wants to make Saban his bitch and he could own the state of LA.. not to mention his check would look like a racecar doing doughnuts on the highway

I completely understand WHY LSU wants Jimbo. That isn't the question.

He may want to coach in the SEC again. He put a bow on his time at FSU with a title. If he wants to move on, he can do so knowing he conquered that challenge.

Also, it wouldn't shock me if the man wanted a fresh start after all the crap he went through last year. All of the Winston stuff blew up. He got divorced. The LSU rumors late last year just added to that.

With the money, recruiting and the prestige being pretty equal today, it wouldn't shock me if things like these make a big difference in such a decision.

It's been argued that we're more willing to pay top dollar for our assistant coaches. But, if Jimbo comes here, I think it will be due to a combination of wanting a fresh start and the fact that he really did seem to appreciate his time here.

ETA: It's also possible he wants the challenge of facing the best on a regular basis.

Other than Jimbo/Herman, can you name a coach more availble and qualified to be the coach at LSU?

With all due respect, some of you are having reading comprehension problems this morning.

Fair enough. But this seems like an emotional decision rather than a business one. Of course you could be correct, I just don't understand from the business side.

Heard he's not a huge fan of FSU administration. Lsu doesn't have Miami and Florida instate either. And Sec is known to have the best of the best. Those are my guesses. Oh and the shot to win a natty at two schools maybe ??

I also believe that LSU is making a really compelling offer that FSU may or may not match. We shall see.

Why do you think you have Pruitt as your DC?

Because FSU would not pay him.

That's why LSU we not only pay head coach but we make sure assistant coaches get paid too.

Some people welcome the challenge of beating the best. Guess you ain't one of them. Maybe he hates that short bastard in crimson and wants to knock his arse a peg or two down, maybe he thinks that he's the best in the nation and Saban just has no real competition. Who knows?

lol, LSU isn't a top program they should be happy with 2nd tier coach, football existed before 2000, Les won with Saban's players, etc etc etc..."

LSU is a top program. But my questioning is still there. It's a lateral move at best.

I think the underlying issue is here, many bama fans don't want Herman or Jimbo at LSU. You all had a boner on the idea that O was going to be hired at LSU last week.

To answer your question, better recruiting base with an entire NFL talent Rich state at your disposal, and the 3rd largest city 4 hours away. Resources , assets, and facilities are superior at LSU. Hope that helps answers some of your questions.

As far as wanting to coach in the SEC, that is more of a competitive drive thing than an emotional decision. Think about this. Did you see Bert leaving a very stable position at Wisconsin to go to a tougher place to win in a tougher conference? I certainly didn't. He wanted to prove himself in the SEC. Sure, he got a raise and more money for a better staff, but a lot of coaches pass on money offers to stay where they are. There is a lot more risk that comes with that money. You have to WANT to make that move.
