Would be interesting for sure. No idea what my reaction would be.

Not hiring this guy is a mistake on LSU's part.

Who cares that he went 1-11 with Bill Cubit's talent. Again....it was Bill Cubit's talent. Says a lot right there about how bad they blew.

Then to basically get 1.5 recruiting classes in the door and have a 7 win swing?

Last year was definitely dissapointing for them as far as an upward trend but who gives a shite, they are 9-0 right now and cruising.

Look, as an LSU fan you have to realize AT BEST you're going to beat Bama maybe once every 3 years. So twice in 6. Let's say one of those years you drop some stupid game in conference that you shouldn't...so that 1 year you beat Bama you still don't go to the playoff because of your other loss. So that's 1 in 6 years you go to the playoff and win the SEC.

That's not bad at all.

Any expectations higher than that while Saban is at Bama are just silly. He has turned the conference, division and really CFB on it's head. shite, UGA who isn't even in the same division basically fired their coach because he wasn't Saban and couldn't beat him. No matter who the next coach is, even if they are GREAT....they aren't as good as the elephant in the room.

I think the concern is "is this a brilliant young coach, or is this just a good coach who is hustling the other directional schools for recruits"

Its clear he is at least a good coach, and he is out recruiting his peers. Then again how hard is it to out recruit Central Michigan? You aren't going to beat elite coaches simply by being young and energetic.

go look at Tommy Bowden who was undefeated at Tulane in 1998, 2 years after taking over a TERRIBLE program. I don't think anyone regretted not hiring him

there are risks with every coach, i'd rather take this risk than give a guy who already had his shot and failed as a permanent hc already. the risks between herman and fleck are very similar.

if you can get jimbo or something then fine hire him over fleck.

not very similar.

the competition in the AAC is better than the MAC
We have also seen him beat top 10 teams.
and he has a slightly longer track record.

Until THIS season, would you have wanted Fleck?

i don't have a problem with Herman, if you can get him that's fine. I would be happy. Just dont give me this stuff about opening the checkbook and giving Herman 6 million a year but Fleck doesn't even deserve an interview.

And yes, the risks are similar in that they are "unproven" (whatever that's worth) as the p5 level.

Before 1999 would you have wanted Saban? he had been 6-5-1 or 7-5 every year at MSU to that point.

good question, except I would have had less question about Saban in 1999 than i do about Fleck now.

9-2 season at Toledo, 9-2 Season at MSU after taking over a trash team, and finishing second in the Big 10. NFL DC.

They at themselves a MAC team, and a historically bad one at that.

I bet a lot of MAC teams can beat SMU. Northwestern gave ohio state hell, Illinois just beat Michigan state.

The fact we are talking about WESTERN MICHIGAN competing/winning against big team teams, being undefeated, and possibly finishing in the top 10 is remarkable.

I like herman, however, his fans say he beat OU and FSU and Ignore that he lost to smu, UConn, and navy.

So, why you can't say Fleck beat fsu and Oklahoma (both name schoos) he has not lost to any crap teams that he should not lose to either. Is it good to beat Alabama and lose to vandy?

1,49,24,18,39,15,41,14,32,16............. That is the margin of victory from each game this year. That is an avg margin of victory of 25.2.

If people don't think that is pretty impressive then they are not capable of being objective.

They will say he coaches against shitty teams forgetting the fact that he coaches a shitty team.
