I like Saban where he is. . .not locking us out of the Texas recruiting grounds

I'm not actually from Larto, but I've been there (once). I read somewhere that Acme and Larto are the most remote places in Louisiana (at least in terms of getting there by vehicle). No idea if that's true.

Uh...I don't know if you're bullshitting or if Phil Savage is bipolar. But he was on his show today saying in no uncertain terms that Saban was not going to Texas.

Well he changed his thoughts by the time he did the Sirius dhow with Childers. I listened to it on my drive home

You know Herbie called Les Miles up in Ann Arbor to get his take before he ran with this.

I think Herbie had that right when he reported it, but Les didn't want it out yet. Once it got out it forced Les' hand and he did the whole "damn fine football team" speech and decided to stay.

People give Herbie shite over that, but we don't KNOW that he was wrong.

What he said on his SiriusXM show was that starting about 2 weeks ago was the first time in the 7 years that Saban has been at Bama that he wasn't 100% certain that Saban was staying at Bama. Now not being 100% certain of something is not the same has thinking it won't happen. He stated earlier today (on Jox radio I think) that he thought Saban would stay.

Yeah we do because it didn't happen.

Coaches don't change their mind because something got out a day ahead of time.

The Saban to Bama stuff got out before he wanted it to. He had to come out and state that he would not be the coach of Alabama. He's now the coach of Alabama.

I will always be convinced if Herbie doesn't open his mouth AND LSU doesn't make it to the BCSNCG that year, Les would have been at Michigan in 2008.

I respect Phil's opinion but I'll just go with the tone of this board and say no one knows what the frick they are talking about.

that includes you, Bama homers.

Really? I never really felt that way. I've seen too many coaches that just don't give a $h*t to think he would've cared enough to change his mind for leaked info. if he had planned on going.

Anything is possible though. However, he didn't go the 2nd time they came calling either in 2011.

I only say it because he went out and made his rant because of it.

I believe he has settled in now. After the Arkansas loss in 2007 too many LSU fans were ready for him to leave, and I can't really blame them then. LSU had WAY to much talent to lose two games each year from 2005-2007. Getting to the BCSNCG, even as a two loss team, helped seal the bond between Miles and LSU.

You're an idiot. Herby got played by some Michigan insiders and made a huge bonehead move. Les kicked his arse publicly and motivated his players in one fell swoop. Stick to your own backyard.
