It's my understanding he wouldn't lose anything. Texas would just pay the difference of his new contract with his new school. So if aTm hired him for $1.00 then Texas would still have to pay $9,999,999.

If Texas has to pay Strong his money which is only offset by his new salary, why wouldn't LSU and Strong simply agree to a $50K/yr salary (or whatever the minimum is to not be actionable under Strong's Texas contract) and let Texas fully pay? Strong gets to fly under the radar, be a part of LSU's staff and continue to let Texas pay him a fat check.

LSU should do this unless it creates issues with Aranda (which I assume it wouldn't).

its also Bama so let's not pretend there isn't some under the table cash with those salaries

Sark didn't do it for the cash, he did it with the understanding Lane was out one way or another and it would give him a head start working with the players. He'll be named OC before Lane even packs his shite. It leaked last year that Saban would prefer his young QBs to have the same OC from start to finish, and like a month later Sark popped up on staff.

I remember when that guy on Fox had the theory that Saban hired Sark to block him from LSU hiring him as OC in season. At the time, I thought the guy was a fricking idiot because Miles was still in place and no way we were hiring an OC in season.

Thinking about it now though...I really wouldn't be shocked if Saban was aware of the incoming coup and brought Sark on in an advisory role before we could.

i think it was more just Saban realizing Kiffin was going to be gone after this year 1 way or another & Sark would be a great insurance policy if he can stay sober, being employed by Saban seems like a great environment for someone in recovery.

Are you a member? Do you have access to the link I just posted a few messages back?

Pretty good strategy on his part to drum up new memberships.

Kiffin wasn't going to be retained, no matter what

Bama loves rehabbing great coaches/recruiters. Sark was available

No doubt. Like I said this talk of Lane being out started last year. Saban isn't one to just sit around with his thumb up his arse, gave him a chance to vett Sark and see if he had cleaned things up while making the transition seamless.
