Strong gets his $10 million if he doesn't coach
Boom! He'd be stupid to take a coordinator job in the 6 figure range and lose that kinda dough!

Shadow staff is the way of the future. I'm not sure he would coach linebackers, though - he's going to be in demand as a DC somewhere.
Won't be anything shadow about it once the P5 gets together and kicks out the NCAA

Here's my thing on the shadow staff
Those guys don't make any money. I read that Sarkisian's salary is like $45K. So you again have a revolving door and we'd have to bank on ex-head coaches like Sark and Mike Locksley to pick to work here over places like Alabama.

Eta...yes. Shadow staff is the future being. Everyone is doing everything they can to copy the process" lol

And since that process involves skirting NCAA rules tighter then whatever...the inevitable conclusion is obvious.

He doesn't lose his buyout if he takes another job.
I believe the salary of the new job is just subtracted from his buyout.

Aranda has signed contract extension with LSU
Orgeron got himself 7-wins next year
Without Aranda, we were looking at 5-6

Exactly. The new deal offsets that amount in Strong's buyout.
He'll probably go to someone for a very insubstantial sum.

its a mixture of older vets that don't want to hit the trail anymore or guys looking for redemption....
Pendry is a good example of a guy that probably still enjoys coaching just not all that goes with it. Cristobal hits the trails, Pendry "assists" him in coaching. I would guess Pete will be our Pendry
its also Bama so let's not pretend there isn't some under the table cash with those salaries

That's perfect for LSU, then. If Alabama is doing this with Sarkisian, LSU should really push for this with the understanding that Aranda is the man until he decides otherwise.
The beginning of the end for Dinardo is when he let Carl Reese go to Texas and hired the DC who will never be named on this board again. Hiring Strong as either a LB coach or "shadow DC" would be good insurance for Orgeron.

And he's probable making $800k doing "consulting" work for a used tractor dealer in Tuscaloosa.
