My sources are telling me the players don't want to be kissed by their new coach. TIFWIW

It's Herman. You'd think people would know this by now.

This, a figment of someone's imagination:
quote:

Herman is a ball coach and while he would do some of the handshaking and events required of the Longhorns' coach, he's not keen on it. It takes away from recruiting and the team and that's certainly something that takes time at UT especially with the amount of big-money donors. The same can be said about the time commitment for the Longhorn Network.

Versus this, reported in Houston, and well-known to those who have been paying attention:
quote:

Tom Herman’s been seemingly everywhere since being hired as the University of Houston’s head coach. He’s done television and radio. He looms large on billboards dotted throughout the city. He’s likely been to more than a few gas station openings.

Herman’s job is to be a football coach. But he’s acknowledged that the job’s about more than football. It’s about promoting football and the university.

Oh god...another person who is bothered by something that has no actual impact on their life or body.

Those two comments can both be accurate. You can do the promotions for Houston, but not enjoy all of it.

Also, are you going to sit here and tell me that UT's HC isn't a more gruelling job, PR wise, than others? I mean i get it. We're both holding out hope, but both of these articles can be accurate.

I'd be happy with a queen who regularly fondles his players as long we win championships.

I don't think they're talking about those things. There are other things a coach git to do dealing with the boosters and everybody knows Texas has the most annoying group of them.

Make a deal with Tom Herman now. Shake hands on it NOW. Let him know he is our man...NOW. Forget all other candidates...HIRE TOM HERMAN!

Yes I'm sure a fellow coach believes Les Miles should have been let go following yet another in a long line of 10+ win seasons

not like texas. honestly, why do you think theyve been so averagely good for so many decades now. Texas should be bama x 2, they are a 10+ in every single category any team could ever hope for. yet VY still had to carry them to their only title in my lifetime.

there is something fundamentally wrong with the core of that program. presumably the boosters like red, who seems to think hes an NFL owner.

think about what Herbstriet said last week, calling the program a "cesspool". hes an Ohio State guy, still lives in Columbus (i think). i assume he knows Urban and the program better than most. that would include Herman. If Herman asks Herbstriet what he thinks about Texas, its not gonna go well for them.

He lives in Nashville because he was sick of getting harassed in Columbus by Ohio State fans.

Clearly a cesspool, Columbus is.

frick Kirk Herbstreit.

He got his master's degree at Texas and was a graduate assistant under Mack Brown. One of his top assistants is Major Applewhite. I think he has a pretty good idea, one way or the other.

I have no idea why people are so ga ga over Herman yet wont give PJ Fleck a second thought. If anything you could argue Fleck has done more with less.

I think Herman is going to be great, but I agree. I hope LSU doesn't only go after Jimbo and Herman, then settle for Orgeron. This is such a critical hire for LSU.
