I don't think Venables leaves Clemson to come here. Lateral move to a shakier situation. I would love for it to happen though. Any of the names mentioned in the article would be good hires.

Have y'all ever considered that O likes being the defensive line coach and is happy with his position?

Not everybody in every company wants to deal with being the Vice President or CEO, football coaches are no different

As long as that means he is involved with the D-Line in ANY capacity at LSU.

Am I reading this right that O doesn't want to be DC?

Yep. Dude could have been a DC a long time ago if he wanted to.

Dave Aranda please

only thing about him is that he will bring a completely new scheme that we haven't recruited for. Who would be the NT next year? Ed Alexander?

I like Venables, but if we can't get him by offering HCIW, then I want Aranda.

Put LaCouture at NT. I'm sure Aranda could adjust his scheme to LSUs personnel

Anybody think Alleva will make an exception to "the clause".

Orgeron may end being DC by default.

it is really only shaky if LSU fails to win... go 11-2 next year and then he has security.

Raymond isn't even that good of a DB coach. Just a great recruiter. So, no, that doesn't warrant being DC.

Maybe O turned down USC when he was the interim coach.

So now we are being held hostage by DB coaches if they don't get the DC spot? Seriously?

As time goes on it appears Les traded an outstanding DB's coach yet mediocre recruiter for an outstanding recruiter but average DB's coach.

It's funny to me that one of the biggest worries I saw with Steele was bringing the 3-4 and changing our scheme. Now people are trying to figure out how to make the 3-4 scheme work in order to bring in other DCs.
