I almost feel sorry for Long. No matter how good the hire is that he makes, if it isn't some twenty year vet with a HOF career already then he is going to get hammered on the message boards.

Added Les Miles to the On Deck tier. Long and les go back to 1987 when they were both at Michigan together.

Long said they got a lot of looks when they hung out together at the SEC meetings last week.

There are two of them, and I'd put the odds of either of them getting the job at 100k to 1, but then this is Arkysaw. So I say it is 50k to 1...

Why would anyone with Ark still throw the BP name around, for Gods sake you just fired him for lying, cheating (on his wife), behaviour detrimental to the university, giving jobs to people that put out, paying $25k gifts (prostitution)?, do I really need to go on???

My buttcheeks just tightened up.

JEFF- Les is an unusual guy! He's a character! Again, I coached with him in 1987. It was a long time ago but you know he has a passion for the game and I think you can see that in him. You know, he has a method to his madness and sometimes it is madness but you know Les is a good person, a good guy. I know his wife Kathy, I know their children -- so they're friends in that regard. I've certainly respected what he did as a coach at Oklahoma State and now at LSU.

I haven't read this thread at all and just clicked on this last page but I assume they were joking.

When you look at the number of division one prospects that come out of the state of Texas.....one -- Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, they can't take them all.

Baylor? I don't know about that.

Hmmmmm...then I'm guessing that Long was very unhappy with Petrino's "for you, my friend" comment.

Listening to interview, AD Long seems like a very genuine, down-to-earth type.

Regarding CBP "Not gonna happen", same answer even after the guy asked the same question 5 times.

I think we've got the best in the business, but there's a few little things that might get his arse ran out of town.

$ Boosters in Arkansas like to call the shots not be told about them.

Exclusive Pepsi contract in the stadiums... WTF Jeff?

We fixed the basketball issue, JFB said F it when Hiring Pelphrey after Altman bolted after less than a day. Just have to give it some time for us to back where we're used to being in hoops.

The tickets, tailgating, and parking will continue to be a thorn in his side. The stadium is not easy to get to at all, and it really can be a hassle for older folks to get to their seats much less to the stadium at all. We need more shuttles and bus access for the older folks.

Overall we're in pretty good shape. At least it's not an Oklahoma State situation where a booster reneges on a major donation and his investment advice costs the endowment 22% of it's value. There's about 20 city blocks on the north side of campus that OSU took through imminent domain and it sits empty waiting for athletic buildings and ballparks that will never get built.

I spoke to a Ath Dept. rep about using it for RV facilities or a massive parking and tailgate area instead of parking on campus and trashing the campus and they basically told me to frick off.

Haven't kept track but was that Pickens? I thought he said he's all

in unless OSU embarrasses him (I'm pretty sure he simply meant some kind of scandal).
Maybe get a Saban type coach who will tell them to eff off...but yes, easier said then done.

Well, he sounds like a good guy, honorable enough to stick to his guns regarding CBP. I wish him well.

No kidding? Man I can't stand Okie State but that still sucks no matter who it is.

Huge, huge hire but Long will do his best. It is not easy to do, but will be interesting to watch.
