Do you guys think that they have at least one of these positions agreed upon? Or do you think that they are truly waiting to talk to more candidates? I know a few guys here have eluded to certain guys as being hired but the stunning silence on the two jobs is pretty odd to me. I cant recall such silence on hires like this at LSU, ever. May be a good thing, but usually something has leaked by now.

Agree, this is the most quiet I can ever remember it being this time of year. There has to be a sense of urgency, which means something must be in the works or in place. Noise means panic and power plays most of the time.

We are waiting for the Superbowl winning coaches to finish their seasons.

We knew we would need new coaches at the end of this year a long time ago. If they still haven't figured out who to hire for replacements then we are fricked.

I was thinking along those lines as well. They had to start planning for changes around the midway point. I don’t think anyone planned on finishing at .500 like we did so the wheels had to be turning waaaay before the seasons end.

To me quiet is a good thing. Means Woodward and Coach O are running a tight ship with no leaks. You know they are talking behind the scenes. Don't assume silence means they are being left behind.

I have no idea if they have their guys or not. Maybe they are waiting to speak coaches still working.

But the fact that the rumor mill is under control is a good thing in my eyes.

At least it appears Coach O is doing some due diligence instead of hiring the first hot name like he did with Canada or immediately hiring a retread like Pelini.

Leaks can be bad. Look at Sark to UT, do you think that Bama did not counter offer?

I’m no hearing anything internally, but given O’s affinity for NFL coaches, I think he’s looking at position coaches for coordinator spots that are currently on NFL playoff teams....i.e., probably the Saints or others.

I'm actually happy they're quiet about it. When Alleva was here, all you heard were leaks. At least keep everything quiet, make and solidify your picks for each position carefully and work on recruiting. Talks of most of these guys coming back on defense makes me think there are some quality moves in the right direction on defense. But offense is the main focus especially on the line. Need to get rid of Cregg and get someone who will recruit and develop these guys.

A counter to being OC under Saban and HC at UT is kind pretty different. If he wants to be a head coach, UT is a pretty high profile job don’t you think? I can get turning away the Auburn job but if you actually want to be a HC again you prolly pull the trigger to
Go to Texas.

Lombardi(sp?) OC -- Nielson DC

Both from the Saints. Just to piss Payton off at disliking O even more.
