Guidry deserves a shot. Honestly think he will make it 2 years and out.

I'd like to know why Miami of Ohio and Western Kentucky felt a need to go in a different direction after Guidry was named interim HC.

Did McNeese even look around for potential candidates?

The players love guidry and that's what matters. He's also a great defensive mind. I'm hoping he gets the job.

Keep the lineage, change the culture with someone who cares about the program is team of someone who is just there to move on quickly as possible. Especially considering what McNeese can afford (not afford in their case) as far as salary.

Western Kentucky hired Petrino so Guidry had no chance.

Miami Ohio, I believe he was supposed to be leaving with out going coach Haywood to Pittsburgh until Haywood's domestic violence allegations and firing.

I mean, at best they are going to find another coordinator to come in and take the reigns. I think Guidry is a good fit.

Why do any teams decide to go in a different direction after naming someone as interim? They never hired Guidry to be the head coach, he just became the head coach out of necessity because there was still season to be played. This is a bit different. I think, and a lot of people seem to think, that Guidry is a very good coach. Maybe those schools weren't willing to give the guy a run as Head Coach when they could go get someone with a proven record as head coach.

I don't think McNeese has that luxury. You're getting a DC or an OC regardless. Guidry just had one of the top defenses in the FCS this season, and had Western Kentucky as a Top 40 defense nationally. He had Miami (OH) as a top 30 defense in yards/gm and top 45 in points/gm. I think that at least makes him as qualified as anyone else.

Plus Guidry was "interim" for the bowl games and not an interim coach during the regular season. By the time he was chosen to coach the teams bowl games, the decision to do a full search was already ongoing or likely over with

Did JC Harper ever work with Guidry at McNeese? He was our Co-DC at SMS and he was at McNeese and SFA.

Pretty sure Harper was DL coach under Guidry as D Coordinator from 2000-2001

It's Lance 100%

Expect him to be named by Wednesday. Anyone that knows Lance and the program knows this was just a matter of time. Go Pokes

Guidry is a good hire

Sketchy past but I have faith that he's grown up. Great motivator and recruiter and a hell of a defensive coordinator

This was the right hire.

I wonder if Harper gets back into coaching? If so, would McNeese call for him?

He is usually a great guy, but had his moments.
