Long term stability is a huge factor here. We will not have another chance at Jimbo.

What the hell are you talking about? Listen to Tallahassee ESPN radio. FSU fans and media guys are saying that he is under achieving. They are saying that if has one or two more 2-3 loss seasons, they might be looking to make a change. Yet, we are clamoring for him. He's good Coach, but his own fans are indifferent. 97.9 ESPN Radio

I'm speaking from the viewpoint of the LSU admin. They want stability. Jimbo brings that regardless of what some fans say. But, go back and read what I originally posted regarding Herman and now what Random has said.

I did read it. We just fired "stability". They are hiring a football coach, not a priest. I dont doubt you nor random (appreciate you both). Les' firing was a "football" decision. Herman is the best "football" hire. My point is that Jimbo provides that same "stability" to FSU. Yet the fanbase is getting restless, while we are seriously considering plugging in more stability, with the potential of "marginal" offensive improvement. IMO. If stability was the driving force, we may as well have kept Les.

I understand what you're saying and don't disagree with you. LSU, and rightfully so, doesn't want to be left out in the cold, going through this same process again.

I understand that too, but how long from now are they thinking? In this day and age it seems pretty rare to have coaches with 10+ year tenures. I don't know the stats but my gut tells me 5 years has to be an average stay?

If Herman gives you 5 years and a championship vs Fisher 10 years and no championship. Isn't it worth having to search after 5 years? That's their job, after all. If you can't stomach a high stakes coaching search, why are you in athletic administration at the 2nd highest level of football?

Just my $0.02
