Not at all. I said he hasn't proven he can BUILD a championship level program. That's not a knock on him but that is also a reason he's not some homerun hire.
You said that he had begun to rebuild Oklahoma state, but you didn't think he could finish the job. And that opinion is based on...

Miles would be a homerun hire for damn near every school in the country. Why do yall refuse to believe this?

So if CLM doesn't even get a honest look, do we consider this a win?

I consider it a confirmation that the LSU football team will continue to be stuck in the mud and not seriously contend for a SEC championship over the next few years, much less a national title.

Because they've hated him for so long now that it literally pains them to say anything positive about the man

its quite amazing to watch

If not, then there are reasonable questions as to whether he can keep them near his down years here.
Les Miles went 8-5, 9-4, 7-5 in his final 3 seasons at OSU. He had a losing season the first (4-7). So, he had back to back winning seasons in 02-03. You have to go back to 87-88 for the previous time Oklahoma State had back to back winning seasons (15 seasons).

Michigan is in much better position than OSU was when Miles resurrected that program. They've at least been able to win more than 50% of their games over the last 15 years.

Les Miles would win at least 8 games a year at Michigan. He would win 10 games in most years. And, he'd have them competing for the conference championship regularly. He is a perfect fit for them.

I don't believe he would. That is my opinion and it is shared by a lot of football fans from numerous teams I've discussed it with.

Plain and simple, they see him only able to do one or the other, but not both.

No, he wouldn't. He'd be a good hire for a bunch, but he's had two supposed overtures in 10 years, and if he was worth it in the first one, Michigan would've pulled the trigger in 2007.

Is Arkansas flirtation with him following 2012 supposed to prove that to everyone?

You are using as much opinion as anyone since his name has only really come up for the Michigan job EVER and not for anywhere else except Arky, which was clearly his agent trying to force the extension/raise negotiations.

That's because there are less than 5 jobs in the country that are better than LSU. LSU is not a stone stepping job, so it would be nearly impossible to get a National Championship winning coach away from LSU. Going to Michigan would be a step down for Les Miles. The only reason that is is the only job EVER to come up, is because it is his alma mater and he loves the school.

If true, why did LSU then worry about the supposed flirtation with Arky? Is that somehow a better job?

i don't know that it was about the Arkansas job. that's just speculation. He had just went 13-0 and won the SEC the year prior without getting any pay raise whatsoever. Despite 1/9, he probably deserved a raise then.

From everything I've heard from reliable sources, he was getting a pay raise and extension that year regardless of whether Arkansas rumors came up.

Are you fricking kidding me? You realize how good of a job LSU is right now, right? Michigan is one of the only schools that Les would entertain over staying at LSU. You don't think that other schools would be tripping all over themselves to offer him if they thought they had a chance at getting him?

And no, I'm not using nearly as much opinion as you. I'm using the fact that Les has been one of the most successful coaches in the ncaa since he arrived at LSU to tell me that he'd be a home run hire for most schools.

he'd be a homerun hire for every single school in the NCAA (including Bama, USC, Florida, Texas, etc.). He's not the best coach in the world. But, he's better than almost everyone else. Any school that could land Les Miles would be getting a great coach. Every. Single. School.

Michigan is the only one that has a legitimate chance.

This

I wish Miles would just speak his mind and say "Why in the hell would I want to be a part of that shite - show up in Ann Arbor? "

So....if they had it to do over, would they rather Miles or Hoke?

UM is being run by a bunch of dumbass old men that obviously don't know shite about hiring a football coach.

if Saban retired tomorrow and Bama hired Les Miles, it would be a homerun hire.
if Jimbo Fisher left FSU and they hired Les Miles, it would be a homerun hire.

Repeat this all around the country. It is the truth.

In two years he'll only have one kid still at home. I think Miles stays, but I think the family angle is slightly overblown.
