I'm sorry that the LSU fans had to go through all of this bullshite. I've been a Michigan fan for 35 years and I've been a loyal fan - but I have to be honest that I've lost a little respect for the University of Michigan after the way they've handled this search. I can't speak for the University but I apologize again.

It's apparent to me that LSU is a lot more serious about winning than Michigan. Not only because of this search but the fact that LSU pays their Coach more money and assistants twice as much money as UM.

This has finally been put to rest so enjoy the NC game. You guys deserve it.

Good luck!

You should be writing to the Detroit Free Press. They were the instigators in all this.

Thanks for the kind words. The fact is that this has been hard on TigerNation. While there are some with reservations about Miles, on the whole he is supported by most of our fans and no one really wanted him to go. Michigan is a great school and has my respect but I am not sure that being a football power in the modern era is in the cards. Hope I am wrong.

You don't need to apologize. Media starts these fires.

Yes, but Michigan is to blame too. Shouldn't they have someone in mind by now? Pony up the money and get someone good to bring your program back to being a contender for the NC game.

Thank you for the apology but it is not needed. Good Luck on your coaching search. We wish you the best.

Not really, Miles was LSU's third choice, Saban was the fourth choice for Bama, Carroll was the fourth for USC. Dantonio was the second or third for MSU. Tressel was the third for OSU. And didn't FLA want someone other than Meyer before they got him? Iowa turned down former player and program loyalist Bob Stoops to hire Kirk Ferenz.

I think we will know on Jan 2 who the next coach is. Even if they know before that, Mich will not want to overshadow Lloyd's last game.

I wonder who Les suggested?

Mich is spending a week with someone in FLA soon. I wonder if they are going to talk with him?

Michigan needs to fire their AD. He seems like an incompetent fool with the way he has handled the whole situation.

The media is just beside themselves because they cannot nail this down, and their "sources" all prove very wrong. I think from the start, they felt they had the story, and when it didn' move they started hurling bombs to see who would react and how.

That failed. They certainly have no sources inside Michigan. LSU did what they needed to do, and now Les is not the story anymore. They have nowhere to go!

Two things are true: 1) only Bill Martin knows where this is headed now, and 2) he isn't talking to the media.

I hope they look at some top guys, but absent that I want Chris Petersen from Boise St.

After this fiasco, do you believe Michigan will finally figure out "prestige" doesn't pay the bills.

Last I saw on MGOBLOG was they were looking at the guy from Ball St. I feel sorry for Michigan if that is who they actually go with.

Most definitely. They hired John Belien recently and Martin seems to feel that that process worked well and is applying it here. What he has not understood is that the football coach and basketball coach are on very different planes in the Mich Nation's order of importance.

More importantly, he now knows how much big $$ donors, important alums, former players and former coaches care about this hire.

As to prestige, well they knew the entire athletic program was depressed. That is why B. Martin was brought in...to fix the facilities and finances parts. As a highly successful business guy, who understands development he was probably the right choice (and he takes not salary for the job). That he has done. Hiring coaches has been problematical though. Tommy Amaker comes to mind.

They can still get this right. But the Miles thing poses another problem. Now the hire has to be either a top 5-7 guy to compare favorably with Les or it has to be an up-and-comer. Anyone else just gets BM and MSC ripped. Maybe fired!

Brady Hoke from Ball St. was one of Lloyd's assistants. Like, Mike Debord and Ron English I think they are getting courtesy looks to help polish them up for advancement/improved contracts elswehre. That is something that Mich would do for Lloyd, play the foil in trying to improve some of his guys' lots. It only costs Mich a brief phone call and the media does the rest. Nothing is really serious there at all!!

Agree. The media is looking for answers.

By the way, glad you guys made it into the NC game. Anything else would have seemed like leftovers.

While OSU is ranked No. 1 I think the smart money is on LSU.

Unfortunately, to sell the game across the nation the network talking heads are going to be making the case for OSU over and over. Their bosses fear folks tuning out, but their greater fear is that they don't tune in at all. Especially the two big media markets NYC and LA.

Great to hear from some classy guys in the Big 10. Your representation is greatly needed around here right now.

It was also nice to hear Bob Griese make sense on the ESPN report awhile ago. Angelique's report finally sounded like the only rational 2 cents coming out of the Detroit paper also.

Michigan will get this right, now that this Les Miles fiasco has been laid to rest. Best to you!

The Ball State guy is a good coach.

Most great coaches were coaches of smaller schools who got a chance. Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel for example.
