Honestly it's probably a good thing we kept Les bc there's no way you can trust these clowns to make a hire.

What a fricking clown show. This is no way to run a multi-million dollar business.
Alleva should be fired immediately. What a boondoggle. frick.

How did the "decision makers" even get to be decision makers if they can't stick to their guns in these very situations?

Because the head decision-maker along with some powerful figures that weren't involved said "Enough"! Alexander holds Alleva's job in his hands and politicians hold the purse strings to LSU.

I agree. Media/Social Media served up a list of reasons that could be used after the supposed negotiations went sideways.

My sources said the firing was a go until Jaime Lloreda, Ivan Nacaratta, and Doug Planchard showed up with a plate of fried Oreos from pluckers. The offering was enough to get Les another year. Of course Planchard insisted on carrying in the plate of Oreos.

schad literally knows less than nothing. people that spew this type of sh!t should be held accountable, and made to state the truth. but espn won't make him do anything.

on espn this morning says that the decision has something to do with the fact that buildings on campus are old and are in need for repair. is he not aware that the athletic dept GIVES money to the school? That the athletic dept takes ZERO state money? Meaning, IF that is the case, you need to be sure the athletic dept gives as much as possible to the school every year.

on a side note, either alleva needs to control the loose lips in the BOS/TAF, or he has to be aware that once you start down the road of changing coaches, you cannot stop. this has been handled very poorly on many levels.

quote:
Something went wrong with the Fisher deal Friday or Saturday. Saturday Fisher was reported to have told the president at Florida State that he was staying and had no interest in any other jobs. The word on the street initially was that Fisher’s agent, the somewhat-infamous Jimmy Sexton, had surfaced late in the process with some additional demands which were deal-breakers. But after the game a different word surfaced; namely that it wasn’t Fisher or Sexton who blew up the deal but that it happened on LSU’s end. Specifically, that LSU’s president F. King Alexander blanched at spending the money to hire Fisher.

quote:
It’s also worth mentioning that Alexander blew up a bond issue for the school by crying wolf about “academic bankruptcy” in the spring, before the final budget was passed and no major cuts to his budget were made at all. Not to mention that where LSU is concerned athletics is anything but a distraction for the university as a whole. The athletic department dumps some $8 million per year into the university’s coffers, so investments from donors into athletics which produce victories, championships and revenue function largely as free venture capital for Alexander’s purposes. And yet, if the stories are true, Alexander blew up the hire of a national championship coach whose last four starting quarterbacks heading into this year have all been first-round draft picks to replace Miles – so that he could preserve his Poor F. King Alexander narrative

quote:
When the actual cost to the university for this change would have been exactly nil. Miles’ buyout, to the extent one would have needed to be paid, would have come from voluntary contributions outside the school and any increase in spending on Fisher would have come from increased donations to the school, either voluntarily or courtesy of a Tiger Athletic Foundation ticket surcharge increase the fans would not have objected to.

He learned a very valuable lesson then.

He's not invincible. He survived for another year. He won't get two if he doesn't make substantial changes, offensively.

It's called a performance review...

Why the media shenanigans to send a message?

my guesses were wrong

what an utter embarrassment- worse case scenario in my opinion

I am cool with keeping Miles, but either support and don't chop his legs out or cut him

You mean to tell me that the AD puts the wheels in motion to fire Miles, let's the story simmer for two weeks, and doesn't have the vision or PR understanding to have all angles hashed out with the president before the third quarter of the last game?

Ineptitude at it's finest, which he has displayed before with even more serious stakes (Duke).

Well he reported that decision was made third qtr and King verified everything Schad said. One thing about LSU and in general our state. No one can keep their mouth shut. Everyone has to feel like they are the man and will run their mouth or have their hand out at every turn.
