Just need someone to hang around for more than two years.

quote:

Goff guided the Blazers to the program's sixth NCAA National Championship appearance on Saturday and back-to-back Gulf South Conference titles in his two playing seasons as head coach in Titletown (three overall seasons). The 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Goff finished his VSU career with a 22-3 record as he was hired at VSU on Jan. 25, 2019. He also coached eight seasons at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio, and is 60-53 in ten playing seasons of coaching.

I'm also a VSU grad.

He inherited a championship roster at VSU. Our 2018 team that went undefeated was mostly freshmen and sophomores. He went 22-3 with that core group.

He's not walking into the same situation at McNeese, but he did turn around Tiffin.

I didn't see this one coming.

What’s the scoop on him? He a defensive or fun and gun type?

Good recruiter?

He played WR at Valdosta State under Mumme/Leach. He's very offensive minded and called his own plays.

Here, he ran the Air Raid but with more power running than other Air Raid coaches. The numbers were very balanced, but sometimes he'd be throwing when he should have been burning clock.

As for recruiting, as I wrote in my first post, he was handed the keys to young, champion roster. It seemed like he was doing well recruiting. "His" freshman haven't seen the field yet. He was able to bring in some JUCO players to help on the OL this year.

$180,000-200,000. Cowboys saved money with Coach Frank, most of his pay came from UTSA buyout.

Paper said this is the highest McNeese has gone and they pulled together some funding

They are tired of losing coaches every 2 years. I think it’s 200-250

Did I read this right?

This season he had THREE 1000 yard rushers and #1 offense in the country?

ETA: Yes. Valdosta had three 1000 yard rushers in ‘21, a 3000 yard passer, and 2-1000 yard WRs

Ivory Dunham, QB passed for 3200 yards and 1000. Passes for 32 TD and rushed for 13.

Learned / played under mumme. Been a hc for a while now. Solid coach, no bullshite with him, he’s a legit good dude. Very good coach, was in the southland, but that was a long time ago. I think he will do well.

Good hire. I’d love to see McNeese return to being a consistent FCS playoff team.

The roster is a mess. Senior QB is gone and many transferred out and decommitted

This is a total rebuild and welcomed

Yeah. Not good at all. I have high hopes for that Tott kid. QB from Mandeville. But he’s young and probably needs time.

They’ve picked up a RB from Col. St They need to go heavy in the portal from here on out. I’d imagine he’s not going to sign many HS kids for this class.
