that's a really terrible hire for Houston. Maybe Applewhite will surprise me and be very successful, but I think UH just opted for stability and mediocrity rather than shooting for the moon.

I would bet this was more a case of the two parties being too far apart in contract negotiations. This process wouldn't have gone as far as it did if they didn't want the guy.

Everyone always bags that girl's looks but side by side next to Major I think she is the one who was slumming it. That poor girl was just trying to get her holiday rocks off and had to look up at these facial expressions.
