Exactly, especially considering the buyout.

I am pretty sure you are over estimating the intelligence of those calling the shots. I have zero confidence in any of this beyond the fact we look like idiots in the sports world.

I hope you're right but not very confident.

So afraid it is Les Miles next year.
Worst possible choice.

That would be bad, but I think it would be worse if they failed to get any of the guys on the shortlist and hired a stopgap coach.

I am buying the idea that boosters said we can get jimbo to erode miles support. They are making it sloppy to taint miles now

Either that or our AD is an idiot... so I say it's 50/50

right now it looks like Alleva is probably drinking heavily and praying that Sexton calls him back with a "Sike"

I agree. Bama was getting ripped pretty hard during the coaching search when they got Saban but they definitely ended up getting the last laugh. You've gotta think LSU knew this would be a pretty unpopular move nationally due to the popularity for Les as a coach and CFB personality. I don't expect them to be "starting a comprehensive coaching search" when they announce the departure of Les.

They got "had" alright.

"Sextoned" is what they got. And, you know what, I don't blame Sexton - it's what he does. He probably looks at any situation where the current guy is getting paid more (or could be paid more) than his guy.

He pulls up his list of clients, in descending order of salary.

Saban - (contenders are a short list) - "Hello, Texas AD? Would you be interested in Nick Saban, for, say $11 million a year?"

Fisher - "Hello, LSU AD? Would you be interested in Jimbo Fisher for, say, $6 million a year? Hypothetically of course. Something you could talk about? We wouldn't be all that far apart? Good. So, you guys thinking about getting rid of Les, huh? Okay. Yes. Jimbo has mentioned LSU to me many times as a place he can see himself coaching. We'd need 6 years plus a few incentives. Okay, we'll get together on the details later." "Hello, FSU AD? I feel like I have to inform you that LSU is interested in Jimbo for, say, $5.75 million over 6 years. Is there some number I can say to my client that will help sway him to stay put? Okay. Good. I'll let him know."

I mean THAT'S HIS JOB.

On the other hand, it is the LSU AD's job to see through this and, even if interested, not leak shite to the press and keep the BoS' mouths shut.
