If Chip can go to a school in Texas and have talent within 300 miles, he'd dominate. Don't fool yourself.

Do not hate him.

Just would not want him at my program. I would think he constantly has one foot out the door.

Again, this is not a guy who loved college ala Saban. By all accounts he did not like the things a HC has to do in college that are not mandatory in the NFL.

Not really commenting on his coaching, but his benefit to a college program.

You do know that he was a coordinator at UNH for years. Chip would stay at the right spot for years.

I'd be worried about him staying out of trouble this Summer.

5 minutes after he fired him Lurie was probably on the phone with every owner in the league telling them what an a-hole Kelly is.

he out-recruited Miles and Saban for a few guys.

He got Southern boys going to the PAC NW. That's a huge feat.

He got trashed by Miles. I really wouldn't care if he came back to College because our style of play and the athleticism on our defense stops his little fast paced O.

One would think with the amount of control a head coach has in college, he would prefer college.

yeah i get the booster bullshite, but you have to put up with outside bullshite in the NFL, too.

and you have prima donna players that he obviously hates, too

so neither is a good option and he'll never have his dream of total control of an NFL team to ensure a subdued locker room

It's not a coincidence that every time Oregon faced an elite defensive line (LSU, Auburn, Stanford) they lost and didn't score nearly as many as they did in other games. Kelly's system is stoppable and would be a disaster in the SEC- whose mantra is built on great defensive lines.

Also, Kelly doesn't adjust. He's never wrong in his mind and that was his undoing in Philly. He gets these crazy ideas in his head and once he decides something, he keeps to it. I just don't see him being successful in the SEC or Big Ten. Could be good in the Big 12 and Pac 12, of course.

He was given complete control at the Eagles.

From previous comments, he hates dealing with boosters and the whole recruiting process.

I just think that for him, the NFL is an itch he will not scratch just once.

I agree. He was obviously a great fit in a very specific situation and time at Oregon. We now know that only translated so well to the pro game. We really don't have any way of knowing how he will translate in another conference and/or area of the country.

I give you, as an example, Mike Price. He did an amazing job at Wash St, and got them all the way to the Rose Bowl and into the national conversation. Think about where that program has been since he left. He was viewed as a solid hire for Bama at the time, but just take a look at where his career has gone since his big fall from grace. He couldn't even cut it in a bad Conference USA.

This doesn't necessarily mean that he is a bad football coach. However, it does mean that his abilities were limited, and that he wasn't good enough to be successful anywhere, anytime. Bill Snyder is another guy who has this "look" about him, but he was REALLY smart. He recognized that he had, and now has again, a great thing going that works where he is. He stuck with that, and will always be remembered as the greatest coach in KSU history. I have my doubts that he could achieve anything close to that elsewhere. Rich Rod is yet another example.

We don't know that Chip Kelly has these kinds of limitations, but I will suspect it unless he proves otherwise.

It's hard to divorce his recruiting success there from the allure and prestige of Nike. I'm not saying he can't recruit, but it will be interesting to see how well he fares without the advantages of that specific situation he had at Oregon.

He is a dick who said he did not really enjoy the NFL and liked the college game.

That is polar opposite of what Kelly has said.

Didn't Price go to strippers and such? That is the fricking strangest analogy I've seen. It's so disjointed.
