This is the main reason (apart from a bit more money) that Les might go. The fans at LSU have, on balance, treated him very badly. The truth is, if Les wins 9-10 games a year at UM, beats Ohio State every other year, and goes to the Rose Bowl twice a decade, he will be revered at Michigan. If he stays at LSU and wins at least 11 games a year, 2 SEC championships in 10 years, and plays in one BCSNCG (win or lose), he will still catch shite from the fans who think LSU has no business not beating everybody they play every year.
I think we have a winner!!!!! Be careful what you wish/wished for folks....you just might get/gotten it......

How do you know this to be true? Maybe at first but their expectations will rise as success comes.

If I'm getting paid millions per year I would expect fans to have high expectations. It comes with the salary. Look at Reggie Bush. I only complained about him because of his salary.

Whooooooaaa, let's hold on here a second. Regarding LSU fans getting on him...what we supposed to do? Praise him for never giving Lee a chance to play when JJ continually screwed up? Praise him for some the most boneheaded time management skills ever produced by a Head Coach - on several occasions? It's not like criticism wasn't deserving.
Having said that I like the guy and want him to stay put in BR. Blaming fans for harshness where it's due is very unfair to loyal die-hard #1 LSU football fans.
If he leaves it ain't going to be because of fans.

Based on my experience as a Michigan alum (grad school) and a fan for the last 40 years.

Les should wash his sandy vagina out in the great lakes and be glad LSU fans and media won't kick anymore sand after takes the UM job

I disagree. There are ways to criticize. Booing at the games ain't one of them. That's just booing the entire team. I very much think that's a factor here. Only one factor and I don't know how much weight it gets, but he and his family put up with more than they deserved. The methods of expression were wrong. Classless and Les has class.

On the Lee vs. Jefferson point, I believe that Les and Crowton went with the guy who evaluated out best based on practice and game performance. Neither is anything to write home about, but I can't argue that picking Jefferson over Lee was clearly wrong. And on the rest of the stuff, an honest appraisal will conclude that the fans' and media's berating of Miles went way beyond what was merited for his mistakes, particularly in light of his accomplishments.

LSU fans got really spoiled having two great coaches here back to back. They remind me of the fat bitch who nobody wanted to frick in high school, then got in the gym, lost all the weight, got a boob job, and now she THINKS she's too good for everybody else. PRAY Alleva finds a good replacement. everybody that wanted Les' head on a pike seems to forget that LSU football was IRRELAVENT on a National Level for TWO DECADES. Get the wrong guy in here and all the "talent" goes elsewhere like it did CONSISTENTLY for years. be careful what you wish for...

If LSU's fans and media had treated you the way Les has been treated, would you "have your heart set here at LSU"?
No.
No.

All about the money?? Les Miles has a lot more history with the University of Michigan than he does with LSU. LSU is a great program no doubt, but sometimes when the Alma Mater comes calling...you answer the call.
Just because you coach somewhere, doesn't mean your loyalty resides there...it's a job.

Such as...
Obviously the story about the drink at the Chimes is unacceptable in any form, but seriously, what are your options. I'm doubting that he takes many personal phone calls from fans. Should we not show up for the games at all?

nycajun- I'm in agreement with you on this here. the fans treated him like shite. i think he's gone personally. I was in the stands at the LSU-WVA game when all the people were booing our OWN team. The WVA fans around me were wondering out loud, "Why are they booing their own guys"? I was embarrassed at the lack of class.

As retarded as that is, it's almost dead on accurate.

Les has won a national championship. If he is making $4M+ per year, they will expect the same at Michigan.
In today's world, everyone wants instant gratification. Michigan fans will not be happy with a string of 9 win seasons.

Hey..I dont like it either but..I heard boos at the first game I went to in 1967 from people pissed at Coach Mac..so nothing has changed in 43 years.

This thread got derailed with the quickness I see.

Consider that LSU had gone 5-4-1 in 1966 and missed a bowl game. The fans were more justifiably disgruntled then.
