a mr. Duarte from the Houston chronicle just interviewed on finebaum. kiffin is the guy the want because of the offense. only issue - buyout clause. Houston wants someone for at least 4 years.

imo, kiffin will sign anything, figuring in 2 years he can get someone else to pay the buyout.

he gone~!

Does Lane have the "leave in two years" rep from how he left Tennessee? The majority of posts I see about him all say "he won't be there for long". Where's he going?

You mean like Herman... He had a $2.5M buyout. That did not stop him from exiting stage left.

Kiffin won't stay at Houston long. His plan will be to win then get a big time school
with big time money to pay whatever buyout.

Herman's latest extension with the University of Houston was worth $1.35 million per year base for five years, the highest annual salary ever for a Houston coach.

Kiffin could probably get more from LSU in Salary with a smaller buyout. I just depends on if Kiffin is done with being an OC or not. Probably so.

He has been the head coach of the Raiders, Tenn. and USC. You think his life goal now is to stay at Houston?

Difference with Herman is that Texas was doing the ponying. They'll pay anything for their guy. Most schools will not.

Houston is willing to pay in the 3 million range. I don't see LSU paying the OC almost the same salary as they are paying the HC.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned: if Lane does well at DC and O loses his job he cahaveya shot at HC here.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but don't you think there's a part of Kiffin that wants to stick it to Saban?

How denigrating/humiliating can it be for someone with the ego of Kiffin to take the repeated verbal abuse from him? On national TV no less.

Don't underestimate the power of ego AND the strong friendship between he and O.

It will be an interesting next few days/week.

He he leaves Bama he has to be HC bound. His overall plan is the be a HC again at a big time program. Stopping at LSU for a cup of coffee with a HC that may (probably) not make it through doesn't add much to the ole resume vs racking up championships at Bama or being a HC at Houston.

The problem is that LSU and Houston shouldn't hire him as he will bail in short order.

Lane Kiffin is a very thorough and complete dick head who hasn't let a job well yet. And he won't leave the next one well either.

The legendary B.B. King said when he hired a musician, he hired 50% musician and 50% man. He hoped they would turn out to be 25% musician and 75% man. Kiffin is 90% offense and 10% man.

Stay away.

Pretty sure that was a 1.35m INCREASE. Herman made over 3.5m at Houston.

LSU better not come anywhere close to that.

Y'all way overplay this angle.

You can just as easily say that kiffin owes a great deal of gratitude to Saban for getting his career back on track.
