Lane Kiffin to...... the 49ers as OC?

Dennis Dodd said on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville this morning that it would not surprise him if it was announced today. He wasn't saying that he will be announced today, just that if it did happen, it would not surprise him at all.
Cited the Chip visiting Bama before the Championship, Lane wanting to be on the west coast, the step up, etc.
I personally do not see it and honestly the thought never crossed my mind, but he did bring up some good points and has me thinking now.
EDITED- You can delete, just saw it on the SECr. My apologies.

Technically it should be here so your post is fine.

I have expected Lane to stay two years from the day he was hired. With all the "attractive" head coaching vacancies filled, it never really crossed my mind that he would go anywhere else. I fully expect Lane to be gone at the end of next year, assuming he stays.

I just think the 49ers OC job is pretty sexy and less demanding. Cali or T-Town?

I'm surpised his name hasn't been brought up more this coaching season.. As much as I hate him, he's done a fantastic job at bama and was actually doing a decent job at USC until his immaturity got him fired. Being able to keep USC relevent with the scholarship issues and black cloud over the program was pretty impressive in hindsight.. If he doesn't bolt next year, I can only assume he's waiting on the bama job..

This is the best place for the topic.
Might actually generate real discussion. SF, imo, seems like a hot mess of an organization. Could not really see the pros of going there right now.

Ttown any day over that shite hole. Lane is a west coast guy though so I could see this happening. If so good for him. He's gonna get a chance again and I believe he will be a different guy this time around.

He will really be living in Silicon Valley which makes T Town look like a trailer park.

Frank Wilson won't leave LSU for UTSA.

You've never been to Tuscaloosa, have you?
Posted on 1/15/16 at 11:49 am to OnTheBrink
Just can't see him leaving Tuscaloosa for a place like San Francisco.

The 9ers are a poorly run franchise. Alabama is one of the best run organizations in all of sports. Lane Kiffin just spent two years under Saban and went from national laughingstock to one of the most respected offensive minds again. He is very appreciative and not leaving Saban unless it's for a HC gig, I would be very shocked.
Also, Bama has always been considered one of the best jobs, and Tuscaloosa campus is gorgeous, and he's a bigger celebrity in a place where football is a bigger deal. None of that matters though, in fact everyone already knows the quality of life argument is totally beside the point, they just can't miss an opportunity to take shots.

going back to the NFL is probably the next stop on his road to becoming a HC again, but it does strike me as odd for him to go to a place with an offensive HC already in place.

This is somewhat overstated
There was a power struggle between the GM and Harbaugh. The GM won. He hired a yes man and that blew up in his face. The Kelly hire tells me they are going high risk-high reward which IMO is the best way to operate in the NFL where spectacular failure is rewarded with high draft picks.

from a football standpoint, this makes zero sense.
why would kelly bring in a seasoned OC that runs a different style of offense? Wasn't kelly calling the plays in philly anyways? does lane want to learn kelly's HUNH spread and then go back to college as a HC with it ?
