Im all for it. The offense is going to be what Saban wants it to be no matter who the OC is, and I cant think of a better recruiter we could have hired.

I don't see a reason to be against it, but there will e a few (probably older) blow hards who really let lane get under their skin and will bitch and moan until he starts producing.

But if something goes wrong, lane will be the focal point of their anger.

( the same Norm Chow who had an offense in the bottom third of the league during his time at Tennessee btw.)

Bobby Petrino and Steve Spurrier both failed miserably in the NFL. Both have very good college offenses.

Does Kiffin suck? YES. But if he sits up in that booth and sucks us more points than the other team on Saturdays I'll get over it.

Yeah, but didn't you hear, all these people who have no meaningful contact with Kiffin's playcalling know better!

"Meaningful contact" with his playcalling? WUT?

They make these fancy gadgets called televisions now. I suggest you get one.

Didn't Nussmeier just set a ton of Bama offensive records in 2012? Why'd Saban run him off?

So I guess Kiffin will be the heir apparent when Saban decides to retire

See that living in Knoxville frown on her face, just imagine how much worse that frown will be in Tuscaloosa, where there is no Rodeo Drive.

Dude, you have no idea.

I thought Kiffin was a douche and still think he is a douche.

As long as he does his job and doesn't mouth off in public, I can deal with it. IDGAF if he's a douche in private.

shite, I can barely remember a single interview with any of Saban's staff. Maybe Kirby once or twice.

If Kiffin doesn't produce on the field, he will be accepting another job in two years just like Mac and Nuss and Alabama will move on to the next guy.

Playcalling. Alabama has never been a huge offensive juggernaut, so setting records with the talent we have right now should be expected.

I would have kept Nuss around, but that's just me. I'm not thrilled with the idea of hiring Kiffin, but if Saban approves it, then I have no choice but to accept it.

ESPN - Alabama hires Kiffin

quote:

Alabama has hired Lane Kiffin as the Tide's new offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN.com.

Kiffin was fired as USC's head coach in late September after a 62-41 loss at Arizona State. He registered a 28-15 record with the Trojans following a one-year stint at Tennessee, where he was 7-6.

The 38-year-old Kiffin visited with Alabama coach Nick Saban prior to the AllState Sugar Bowl "to share ideas and exchange ideas ... [for] professional development," Saban said at the time.

"Lane is a really good offensive coach, and I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for him," Saban said then. "Just to come in and brainstorm a little bit to get some professional ideas with our guys is a really positive thing."

Doug Nussmeier left Alabama on Thursday to become offensive coordinator on Brady Hoke's staff at Michigan.
