Kiffin goes to Houston.

Unless Petrino also leaves, then Lane takes his pick from Hou or Lvl.

Neither are top tier, right? So just the type of place where Kiffin would get a chance.

Kiffin at Houston could be very interesting.

Took a terrible Tennessee team to a bowl game after fulmer couldn't the year before.

Which means he took at 5-7 team and won 2 more games. I don't think we are aiming for "slightly better than Fulmer"

At USC he had to deal with the sanctions and still had a 10-2 year.

He lost 10 scholarships a year, but still signed normal classes. One year he singed a 29 person class. So he didn't give kickers punters and FBs scholarship essentially.

He has clearly matured and learned under saban. He and Aranda would wreck it

What makes people think this?
Is it his disastrous personal life?
Him throwing up his hands when Alabama is (and sometimes isn't) about to score a touchdown?
Was is that arse-chewing that Saban gave him on the sideline 11 days ago?

He has always been good at calling plays. The fact that he is once again on a dynastic team with an all time great head coach doesn't mean he has matured in any way.

Which would be great if he coached at USC two years and left. Unfortunately, he coached there 3 years and a few games and got fired.

If you know he went 10-2 you must realize he coached beyond the 10-2 season. Once the previous coaches players were gone so was he.

2010 USC 8–5 5–4
2011 USC 10–2 7–2
2012 USC 7–6 5–4 Preseason #1
2013 USC 3–2* 0–2 FIRED !!!

"During the 2012 season, Kiffin became the first coach since 1964 to take the pre-season #1 ranked team to unranked by the end of the season."

Yeah right !!! This is the tweet he did after the Bama - USC game this year. #314AM-LAX. That's the early-morning time former USC AD Pat Haden fired Kiffin as head coach of the Trojans on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport. He is an idiot and LSU would be a bigger idiot if they even considered hiring him.

Are you serious!?!?!?!? Guess I didn't pay much attention to what Kiffin was doing at USC. He isn't head coach material and he has proven that several times. But, if there is one coach in this country who I believe can turn the tables on this season, it's Ed Orgeron. I can't say I'm a big fan of his, but I know his love for LSU is just as deep and rooted as any LSU fan.

Why do people think we are going to be able to keep him?
Isn't he under contract for 2 more years, worth a cool 1.3M/yr? If he gets along with whoever the new coach ends up being, i don't see why he wouldn't stay(unless offered HC position somewhere)

OC: Sark
It seems realistic to me that Sark would get our OC job after Kiffin leaves.

Lane Kiffin as HC

His outings at Oakland and USC are a lot to overlook. Yes he was hampered in recruiting with the loss of scholly's from the Carroll era but was that the only reason for the downfall? Just so much baggage, very hard to get over. Now with that said he has definitely cleaned up his image under Saban, the real question is has he learned anything from Saban and how to be successful as a HC.

quote:

The storyline of Kiffin battling Saban would be as big as Saban coming back to battle LSU.

You have to believe that after Kiffin was completely and utterly embarrassed by Saban on national TV and what Saban said to the press after that he would want to kick the shite out of Saban each and every year!!! I know he is probably grateful Saban did what he did for him, but everyone has pride and Saban kick the dog-shite out of Kiffin's pride when he said "there was no argument, those are called arse-chewings" on top of the fact that he literally blamed the entire lack of kicking the dog-shite out of WKU on the offense to the media in a 38-10 win. So the "want" would no doubt be huge the question is does he have the "chest" to go with the "want" to beat Saban.

If Kiffin were to be hired at LSU, I wouldn't be distraught that is for sure. I guess I would say "buckle up" this could be a bumpy ride!

Kiffin will get a job somewhere and both those options are logical if their HC's leave. I would rather him get a west coast job, I truly don't want to recruit against him he is really good at it. That being said both those jobs would be a 3 year deal at best if he does well. I definitely don't want him at Houston though!!!

Sure about that? His trust factor is not much better than Hillary Clinton's!

I get why LSU fans don't want Kiffin, and he probably isn't a good fit. But I agree...if I was an LSU fan, I wouldn't want Kiffin anywhere near Houston. He'll have explosive offenses, win a bunch of games in an easier conference, and recruit the hell out of Louisiana after Herman has put Houston on the map. It's a perfect set up for him...the other candidates will all be second tier guys.

He isn't a head coach. And Aranda isn't that impressive.
