His D coordinator resume is nothing great. His team had a good year last year, but I don't really get this hire for Bama. I don't think it keeps their defensive guys from bailing.

Exactly the opposite. He’s banking on Alabama being the Alabama of the past i.e. he gets an easy promotion to a P5 gig.
Only issue is whether he can coach well enough & recruit well enough to catch steam. Prediction: if hired his trajectory won’t be what he thinks it would be

Think this is a good thing for us. They urgently need a DC to help prevent a mass exodus of players on defense. They interviewed T Rob who said no and they quickly pivot to this guy because DeBoer has a connection to him from Indiana. The resume isn’t that great, only been a DC for 3 years at Indiana with very little impressive on his resume (he’s pretty young). Betting on his potential I guess.

He was a Broyles Award finalist at Indiana before getting the South Alabama HC job, so there's that. He's also well liked in the south Alabama and Gulf Coast high schools. It's not a homerun hire, but its a good hire with the potential to be really good.

Easy for non Alabama fans to shite on this hire.
The reality is this is a tremendous hire. He was incredible as the DC for Indiana and has had South Alabama playing great. Especially defensively.
