He'd need to win out and Herman be off the table until I'd be interested

I would still want us to explore all of our options. If we can get Fisher or Herman to accept the job, I think we have to go that route, regardless of this season's outcome.

All in for Herman. But if Herman says no, then yeah, a coach who proved he can win against a hell of a schedule would be alright by me.

Things Ed O needs to happen:

1. Win out and Herman/Fisher both off the table

2. 7-1 and secondary candidates are dog shite

Only keep him if our Top 7-10 best targets are off the table.

Yes and I'll tell you why. Bebe gets the job and retains current staff with addition of a proven OC. Recruiting will be easy and probably better with new said OC. We would win championships with Bebe running the show no doubt

This, I just can't believe that people don't see and understand this right here.

To go undefeated, he'd need to lead this extremely talented team past Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M, plus the eventual winner of the SEC East.

Even given that, I'd still make Herman say no before I stuck with Coach O.

Wins out = no choice but to keep

If not, his first stop is Alabama.

Think about it.

This is what it boils down to for me. I have no faith that O would have as good of a record as Les. Might be a little more exciting on offense, but no more wins.

It's pointless.

I agree. 7-1 while playing catch up is impressive.

Not if we are able to get Herman or Fisher. They are too good to pass up.

There are a few coaches who are too good to pass up, which is why the "hire O!" immediately talk is baffling.

Could anyone argue that Coach O is more qualified to be the head coach than Doug Marrone, who had a 9-7 season with the Buffalo Freaking Bills? That's just one name nobody is talking about, and there are a lot more out there.

I'll be happy with Coach O when other options are exhausted and he's the best candidate LSU can get. Until then, I remain optimistic that LSU will get someone like Herman, Fisher, Chip Kelly, or someone on par with those three names.

Coach O wins out is like hitting the lottery but don't worry if he can't make it I would email Tom Herman to retain O as an assistant DL coach and a COO of Recruiting for the State of Louisiana. O would excel at this position and a lot of Cajuns would pray for him to be an interim hc again should TH jumps to the NFL.

No. You don't fire Miles mid-season to hire a guy that's the dline coach already on the team

Actually, in a number of scenarios, that's exactly what a team would do.

If you thought you had an assistant that could be the head coach, you'd fire your current head coach and give the assistant the interim tag.

It all has to be some sort of conspiracy/massive troll job/O's family joining the board.

Or are people that infatuated with hiring a "Louisiana Man?"

There is absolutely no reason to fire Les to hire O. It makes 0 sense, and I don't understand the sentiment that he should be a priority even if he wins out. I'm shocked that some are serious about it.
