I don't know what Johnny Jones or Vargas salaries are but I hope that LSU was able to save money on these two and can make it rain on Jimbo with the savings.

Well, I hope by now he's "received an offer."

When I was a sales manager and finance manager in the car business, I made a lot of "offers."

The key was, did I have a strong salesman able to close the deal, or a weak "order taker" who was lost on how to sell himself and the value of his product along with the numbers?

I don't want to say which one of these I think Joe Alleva is.

Maybe he'll surprise me.

does anyone else think jimbo living in a 700k house with a 40 million dollar contract screams "i'm not committed here long term"?

He's divorced, what does he need a multi-million dollar mansion for when he likely has to give Candy a cut of the pie?

Have you seen our offense and QBs?

How Fisher isn't exciting to you I don't know. He will recruit at ELITE levels and we'll always have competent QB play and offense.

If we retain Aranda and hire a solid DC after he leaves, we'll be a force.

These contracts are insane. How much longer will this bubble last?

When the ROI goes away.

Right now, for top programs, its justified on the balance sheet.

At this level, I interpret this as meaning that there is now something in writing (e.g., a letter of intent), not just a verbal negotiating of "what would it take" or "we could offer x". If true, this is significant.

6.8 my apologies.

Would've been 6.5 but we had to cover income tax in LA

IMO. If athletics can give academic side 10 mil a year, they should be able to pay a coach up to 10 mil a year. To take it a step further, get rid of the academic turf hustlers, keep the money. That's a 20 mil coaching/recruiting budget, and athletics still wouldn't cost LSU a dime.

Receiving an offer doesn't mean anything.

That's not true. School's don't make public offers (using Hanny to get it out is a public offer) unless they are very confident the coach will accept.

The only caveat here is that Alleva may want cover if he doesn't get him by saying, "we made a run."
