One of the biggest reasons this is happening now. Not Steele per say, but that Les wanted his "boys" around him. See Peveto and Cameron.

said the same in a post earlier,

Steele easily had the worst resume of the field and he somehow got the job, it just did not make any sense. He got it mostly because of Les' familiarity with him.

Hated the peveto re-hire when we made it as well, I get the guy can recruit but he was not a good STs coach his first stint here and that is even more apparent now.

I think Les liked steele's recruiting prowess (opposite of Chavis) and felt he was stealing one from the enemy. It blinded him to Steele's true value to a program.

If LSU somehow ends up with Jimbo, Boom and Coach O...I cannot imagine how awesome that could be both in the short and long term.

Asked about Peveto earlier this year if Les will fire him. Got laughed at and was told "that is Les's boy. He won't get rid of him again. Peveto just wants to coach LBs. Doesn't give a $hit about special teams."

Les liked that he ran the exact same defense as Chavis (widely known but Chavis and Steele are best friends). Never saw the need in changing the scheme.

He doesn't though. He knew Chavis' scheme but Steel wanted much more zone. Even if he did, he doesn't have the same knack at calling a game as Chavis does.

He deserves a raise. We are paying peanuts for what he's worth.

I love how people with no inside sources come here to get news. Then when someone with sources passes on info they have they get bashed.
