He wouldn't have accepted the interim position if Alleva hadn't told him it was his job to win or lose.

I'm not sure that's quite the right angle. I'm more than willing to bet that CEO was told that his name would be in the hat if he did well enough, but that's probably all he was guaranteed. He (most likey) wouldn't have had a shot at the job without the opportunity, so he took it like anyone would. Even if he goes 8-0 or 7-1 and you have someone like Herman in the bag, you take Herman.

True, but UTx is going to ensure Strong is gone. Herman wont be in play for LSU.

What does he have to gain by not accepting the interim position?

Not understanding your logic here...

Has Tom Herman said that he wants to coach at Texas, or at USC? It seems like more and more people are stating this as fact but they never provide a link.
Here is my take. LSU should go after Herman with everything they have. If LSU tries to low ball and Texas get Herman for 6-8 million I will feel that LSU failed.

It went like this..."Coach O you'll be strongly considered if you take the interim role. You will NOT be in the running for HC if you don't."

He would have taken the interim job regardless, because interim head coach is a much better audition for another hc position than Oline coach.

Or he was told that it would be a good chance to audition for a head coaching gig at any school.

I really don't understand LSU fans and their passion for Orgeron. Makes absolutely no sense to me that y'all would want a guy whose last (and only) head coaching gig, he went 17-27 and 3-21 in conference. He's supposed to be this awesome recruiter, yet the talent level at Ole Miss when he took over went down. Y'all are some reactionary dumbasses and I'm glad that y'all aren't making the decision cause y'all would be making it strictly off emotion.

Even if we won out or lost up to 2 games, I can still think of a number of coaches that would be a better hire than Orgeron.

You think Herman will become the highest paid coach in college football already?

If he goes 8-0 he probably wins the SEC, which is what you are hiring a coach to do. I love Herman and believe he could make LSU great for a long time but you don't fire someone coming off of an SEC championship. The press would be merciless (and fairly) and you have to see what that interim coach can do if given the full time job given that he would have beaten Saban, Shaw, Bielema, Freeze, Sumlin and maybe Butch Jones in his last 12 games as a head coach. Seriously, if Bebe does that he is the next big thing. Yall saying that if he wins 8 games and he doesn't get the job are crazy.
