If we have a great DC and then hire a good OC, does it matter who the HC is?

We have Aranda already on staff who is arguably one of the very best DC's in the nation.

If we hire a good or even great OC, and the head coach (like) Orgeron let's them do their thing, then what does it matter who heads the team?

I want Tom Herman for sure, but I could learn to live with Orgeron if LSU made a slam dunk hire like they did with Aranda.

Are you actually asking if the head coach matters?

Alleva might as well just let me be the head coach

I read Coaching for Dummies and it said the coach matters.

So what happens after we lose both coordinators to head coaching gigs and are stuck with O?

Think people...

OC hires are a massive crapshoot

And why subject ourselves to constantly be dependent upon both coordinator hires

That's Miles all over again

The top programs seem to have a HC who locks down one side of the ball

After last nite I think good DC would be more appropriate than great.

And this is your typical O supporter. God, this depressing.

Because a coach like that means you have to make the best hire every time.

CUM had never had a bad OC and Saban has never really had a bad DC.

O had to worry about a DC and an OC hire every time one of our super great Coordinators gets a HC job. Which will happen because if they are any good and run half a successful football team people will give them jobs. Or we'll have to fire our Coordinators if they don't work out.

Come back and ask again in a year or 2 when your great coordinators leave for a HC job at some mid-tier school

Yes. The HC is the most important coach. Him being propped up by coordinators to cover major weaknesses in his judgement and overall intelligence is a problem.

Great idea. I suggest that LSU just pick a head coach from the stands for each game then.
