If Mullen leaves MSU...

IF Mullen were to leave State and go to Miami or wherever, who would replace him?
Earlier this week, there were a lot of reports saying Durkin was taking the Maryland job, and I don't have any "sources", but on other boards, they're saying that Maryland hiring Durkin is not a done deal and that Reich and Locksley are other serious candidates.
I don't want Dan to go, but if he did, I think DJ Durkin would be my favorite candidate to replace him. MSU currently pays Mullen about $4.2M. Starkville isn't exactly a dream destination, but that's a lot of money.

Since we go through this every year, I am sure Scott has a list he keeps in his top drawer that he updates every November. I saw an old tweet back in November from a U of Miami beat writer that Miami was willing to go to $6mm for a football coach. If true, I could see Mullen interested. He should be getting tired of the shitshow/teeth kicking that he gets in the SEC West every year. Or, he is working us for another raise.

There are three assistant coaches on LSU's staff with head coaching experience:
Cam Cameron
Kevin Steele
Bradley Dale Peveto
I recommend them in that order.

I heard that Larry Fedora would be a name for MSU if Mullen left. I hope not; that would be disappointing.

Serious yet purely hypothetical question for you and your fellow MSU fans:
Let's imagine that Mullen left for X and Les Miles had indeed been fired by LSU...would you like Les Miles as your head coach at MSU?

No, I wouldn't. But it wouldn't be because I think he's a bad coach. I don't think Miles would really be that interested in MSU. He loves LSU and everything else would be a step down. I'd want a coach that wants to be at MSU, not someone who's only there because he got pushed out of where he was.

Seriously though. Les Miles? MSU might even be able to make a few million in the deal.

No. I didn't want him hired as DC the second time around.

Let's say Mullen leaves. Would State be able to outbid schools like Maryland? Where would State fall in ranking the best available coaching jobs?

What's Mullen's buyout to us if he chooses to leave?

I'm not sure. With all the rumors of him going to other schools, you'd think it would've been mentioned, but I haven't seen it.

You'd be disappointed about getting the guy who has UNC possibly 1 ACC Champ game away from being in the CFP? You're Moo State. That'd be a grand slam for y'all.

I just remember him at USM and watched him bolt and leave that program in shambles.
