If it is Haley, can we blame Alleva and not Miles?

It seems from the bits of information coming out that Alleva has really been meddlesome and I guess having the defensive staff sign their contracts before the dc was dumb as well. If this ends up blowing up in our face, I think Alleva needs to be the one shown the door.

There has been no decision yet. Brick is 50/50 at this point. Shoop could pull ahead with a good interview. Nobody is 100% on who it will be. All the speculation is just BS at this point

If true, they both can be shown the door with another disappointing year in 2015.

I'd blame Miles

He has ~$1.2 mil to work with.

Do you have a better explanation on what happened? It was dirty pool on someone's behalf that all the assistants signed and then Chavis bolts.

Haley is definitely not worth 1.2. Hell, Haley isn't worth 750k.

please dont tell me that means as DC. he should be fired, not promoted.

and yes, all of this is on Alleva. extending a DCs assistants BEFORE the DC, including the DL coach that the DC brought in, is as amateur and dumb as it gets.

There's plenty of blame to go around. Promoting brick to DC reeks of desperation.

The real scary thing is that this hire would be akin to the Kurt Roper hire at Florida last year. Everyone knew that Muschamp was on his last leg, so the best he could do was an OC who didn't even call plays at his previous school.

He's not a very good one, he's paying a womens basketball coach who's program loses money nearly a million bucks (and she hasn't been very successful to boot), and proceeds to give the unproven mens basketball coach a raise and extension prior to the guy winning anything more than an NIT game. Then when it comes to the football team (the biggest cash generator the school has) now he wants to play Mr. Conservative.

Blame alleva for not making Chavis the highest paid DC in the league?

Or for not giving him more guaranteed money should Miles leave?

Don't see how you can blame him for Miles not hiring a good DC with top 10 DC money to work with.

Why offer the rest of the staff when there was a possibility that Chavis may not re-sign. Why dick around with the contract and piss the guy off? He has generally delivered, and if you were growing frustrated with the end of game collapses, reach out to other candidates before pissing him off and letting him walk. At least then we could have had an idea who would be interested in coming here. Instead now we're interviewing guys who just got demoted by his own brother.

Not sure which way I want it to go.

Chavis gets his bluff called, gets a raise, and then gets his boy a promotion? Nah, that don't seem right.

But, I definitely like the admins and BOS standing firm against Miles, keeping him accountable for the highest paid staff in the land without results.

If Miles manages to make a good hire, it's great short term for next season, but may prolong the inevitable.

Something tells me promoting Haley can cement his fate and finally necessitate change. Just following bits and pieces, it would seem that LSU administration is handicapping Miles much like he handicaps our offense. They are telling him to do the best with what you got to work with, which unfortunately for him and us is not much. Lol

Because recruiting goes on even if you don't want it to. The kids you are trying to sign, will not sign if you fire or jerk around the guys you send out to recruit them. This isn't rocket science.
