I'm not anti-Jimbo, I just don't think he's worth what LSU would have to pay him. Herman would be a much better value.

Urban Meyer got the Florida job with 4 years experience as a HC in the MAC and Mountain West Conference. That worked out pretty well for UF.

I never said he's a bad choice, though he's certainly not proven. I'm calling out all you fools that feel the need to bash Jimbo Fisher (a proven coach) for the flavor of the month. And Jimbo's offense isn't a traditional "pro-style". In case you haven't noticed, it's evolved since he was here.

Jimbo has won 75% of his games and a national title. He's done phenomenal work at Florida State and that's with a school that refuses to pay assistant coaches anything but bargain bin prices.

And outside of maybe Petrino, he's the best QB coach in country.

I respect that point, but I hope to God they didn't fire Les Miles and pay a huge buyout in order to seek "fair value". I want proven. I want the best LSU can get. I want a guy that's going to coach at least ten seasons and retire here. I'd be positive about a Herman hire, but I'd be ecstatic and SURE about a Jimbo hire.

He'd say that same thing about Texas if Charlie was gone right now.

I think the only concern Herman is the fact that he's only 40. He has another 25 years of coaching left. And that much time, if he succeeds, the NFL will be calling.

Obviously, you can't hold that against a guy. But having someone in their mid fifties, makes that much less likely.

From prior to this season. Jimbo took over in 2010.

Herman is only 40 now but did you know Meyer was 41 when he was hired by UF after only 1 year with Utah. How's that worked out?

The anti-Jimbo crowd is just weird.

This. Herman seems like a great candidate, but there is way more risk with him. Jimbo is a proven HC with a championship that he built and won on his own. Jimbo wins on paper and it's not really even close.

It should be ...

1a - jimbo
1b - herman

Honestly I don't think there's a ton of risk in Tom Herman, he's an urban Meyer starter kit. Just feel like they'll want to get jimbo first because he's already done what Herman is capable of. Proven commodity

You guys make it sound like his coordinators are unpaid interns. FSU may not pay assistants as much as LSU, but 7th in the nation isn't exactly "bargain bin prices."

Yeah, Herman might be the pathway to disappointment and frustration.

If he pans out, we likely lose him within 5 years or so to the NFL, like Saban.

If he doesn't pan out, then we're chasing our tails.
